XM wanted

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

XM wanted

Post by cxprestigeauto » Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:25 am

Dear all,

After a lot of lurking around the forum I am now in a position to spend some money on a car.

My perfect car would be: Series 1.5 SED auto in black. Must be no younger than 1993.

In reality I suspect this is more than a little optimistic.

Must be automatic. Petrol or diesel not too critical in reality. Air con and ABS would be great but both bring problems so I am unsure whether I should hold out for these.

The following http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171573893073looks good and is relatively close to me rather than being out in the wilds of Cambridgeshire like most XMs seem to be.

My budget is around £2K which should buy something reasonably decent. I already have my Sprite for those rare sunny days but want something a bit more practical and dry for when the British weather does its thing! I am also missing the CXM rally!

While I am quite handy with a spanner and the welding torch I also work silly hours and really want something I can spend more time driving than fixing (pretty much like everyone else!).

Any thoughts on the Taunton car or offers of cars for sale please PM me.

Cheers Rob

Hi Rob,

That white car looks excellent. Why the 1993 cut off?

The white car is the simplest of combination. Its the Base 2.oi 8v multi point injection engine of 130bhp, with the completely mechanical 4hp 18 auto box which with regular 6k oil changes should last a long time!

The engine is nice and simple, it has the BEST alloys on it, and as you said, Air con and ABS can be trouble some, but though, ABS was always a no cost option (or cost, cant remembr now) and most had it fitted, its a bonus to find them without.

I had two TD XMs pass through my way (still got one of them) last year both had no ABS, but Ive got a 2.1 TD Auto base WITH ABS fitted and yes, the light is on but its a long way off being a complete car (Interior is currently stripped out of it).

I was going to turn it into an SED Auto useing a H reg SED Manual I have With a rotton body, but it prooved slightly harder then I anticipated, and then I got a job.

Mr Smart, always a pleasure for you!

One of my calendar staples is the Silverstone Classic. They have an age cut off on one of the events that is 1/1/93. In reality the organiser is not going to get too sniffy if the car is June 93 provided that it is on a K plate.

Hi Rob,

I may well have the perfect car for you :) fresh 12month MOT, Full leather interior, SED spec, Working smooth auto, good strong engine, strut tops have been given the OK by a very good local specialist, had sills and rear sub frame welded for MOT and for peace of mind :)

Only problem is that its a Grey car :(

Reg is K21 CEO Registered on 31/08/1992.

Everything works and its going to be around the same price as the one posted above. Fair enough it has a few more miles on it but then it is a diesel in pretty good nick now.

It is possible as well that i could get the Bonnet and nose cone sprayed up at a very good price as well before pickup as well as a full detailing.

Dont get me wrong its not perfect! The biggest issue is that it has 2 keys and the one on the fob doesnt work in the ignition and the door locks have worn down but i believe these can easily be remade by a member on here ;)

Let me know if your interested
Will
