It's getting time to move on from XMs

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

It's getting time to move on from XMs

Post by messerschmitt owner » Fri Dec 26, 2014 9:00 pm

After five years of XM ownership, I am probably going to be upsizing at some point shortly.

My White XM is showing suspension issues that I do not want to fix - namely back end shuffling up and down of its own accord and taking ages to rise at times, while the blue estate has sat since I MOT'd it last december and has not been used in anger since. Has developed a rusty sill under the B post in the past year.

White car is Mot'd to end June and on Sorn as of this month and blue estate is currently unlicenced as I never did get the details transferred from Northern ireland to the UK DVLA - and when I wanted to do it they asked for way too much info for me to be bothered.

Am either going to break them unless someone wants to make an offer on two XMs, both needing work, or they are heading to the breaker's yard after easily saleable parts have been removed. The white car will probably be retaxed and run until June when it's MoT is due and then be available but the blue estate is available now!

Both are 2.1TD manuals and the estate has full leather ...

PM me for a chat!

What I might benifit both me and you is a visit to yourself for a day of stripping.....

Depending what your price's would be etc possibly a spare pump and injector set, head, and strut tops...

But its cost at the end of the day!

Ive NO room for a full car.. and enough to do here as it is..

Paul ! :o

Surely the Blue 2.1 TD MANUAL Estate would just need some TLC (Even Peter N, may take this on, as it would now be probably in his price range and its reg. ends in YBL)

Also as Campbell is basically 'Selling' these XM's, may I suggest that this thread gets moved into the 'For Sale section' (where they will get picked up quicker as being F/S), so as to get folks interested into saving/re-commissioning them !

Campbell, you need promote these XM's to get them Sold, rather than been sent off to the scrap-man, especially the Estate N447 YBL !

Some Links to get folks interested #LINK-1, #LINK-2and #LINK-3 (As photo's help when selling) ;)

Good luck with getting these re-homed !

:)

XMX,

We all know fourm members dont buy cars from us! Same on FCF, its quite rare a fellow member buys another car, Peter N scrapped two last year because NO ONE bought them, so if a whole car is going to go, surely its better to get parts then loose them all...

I HOPE IM WRONG, but ive not seen many sell to exsiting members, my own cars, both went to word n mouth members who then came along here.

Paul,

IYCR Chris's (Citroenmad) 2.1TD Manual Estate went to Malcolm (at Savoy's) after its H/G failed, which got repaired and went off to somewhere in Scotland !

Also one of Peter N's XM's (The Green one) had the impression of a Bus shelter on one side (after an RTA), so therefore was of no interest to forum members to be put back on the road ;)

I bought one from Jim and sold another to Russ on the same day earlier this year, so Forum deals do occasionally complete. I hope Cameron does find buyers for his cars whether they be from here or elsewhere. Seems to me the forum is a good place to start as well using the other channels more often frequented by lesser forms of existence.
Regards

Rob
