you can in theory with some XMs start the car, and then unplug the keypad when it is running and it should keep going with no need to use keypad.
Unfortunately, on my 97, this trick led to the car cutting out immediately and not wanting to start until the immobiliser was replugged back in.
Why not set the code as 1111 or 9999 or some other one digit sequence - no one, and I mean no one, will nick an XM. And if they do, they will assume you are some super nerd and will have an uncrackable code programmed in.

I've got it set to 1111 the problem is the 1 key is wearing out!
I'd better change it to 2222!
