Wanted 2,1 TD autobox Bosch injection

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi KingP, I see you're keen on Vegetable Oi
You're right about Rape and sunflower for winter
Peanut oil is only ok for summer, the best in summer when there's 30°C minus is palm oil, because it's about as fluid as water !
2 years ago I still had my 2.1 TD estate 1994, she ran and burnt all, like motor or gearbox waste oil, waste LHM, waste oil on lawn mower, sure that was mixed with chips oil...
I never had problems about that, but now I prefer run only chips oil, wasted oil are really dirty... when you have to work on the fuel feeding pipes everything becomes black of waste oil... Beurk !!!!

Right now I'm driving my two 2,5 XM with 66% Oil and 33% E85 (Ethanol) Everything is Ok.

Isn't e85 for petrol cars that are suitably converted?
That stuff eats certain rubber components so could cause you issues with your 2.5!!

Effectively E85 is for petrol, in summer I drive my V6 ES9JA 100% E85.
In my diesel cars, when temperatures are low, I mix oil with diesel or petrol or E85.
A mix with E85 permits to insert less E85 than diesel, and it's more fluid.
I know that E85 clean all the feeding pipes and should cause problem on rubber, anyway the oil proportion is very important.
In a few weeks I will put 80% / 20% E85.
It's been now 10 years I drive my diesel XM with recycling oil

Having seen what e85 does to fuel systems that aren't designed for it I wouldn't put it in my XM :)

The general advice is that while the use of petrol or such allows you to use less to thin the Veg oil out in colder temps, using diesel from the pump is better as it will contain winteriser usually whih also aids in the thinning of the veg.

Alternatively the better way to do it is to get a product like coldflow or suchlike and mix it in or put the right dose in before filling be tank with veg and then as you pour it in it all mixes nicely :)

I currently run 100% svo in mine and when I do an oil change I mix in 2-3litre of old engine oil per fill, and in winter if I really find that running the glow plugs 2-3times is a chore or the temps are below -5 overnight then 5litres of diesel per tank sorts it out.

With used veg oil it's much worse as the oil holds water in for a long time and needs drying to get rid of it to any decent degree.

In the UK you don't need to pay duty as a home user unless you really use a good bit more than 2500 litres per year. Which to be fair gets you a fair few miles in most cars!
