It's leaking I take it?

Surprised that 2.5 ram is the same.
Can make up pipes but the 2.5 ones are very difficult to get right.
Very short so small errors in the bends and you cannot stop them leaking even if the nuts do up.
Best if any new pipes are checked for fit on a removed ram.
Even then you cannot examine the pipe sockets for condition of threads and cleanliness on the car.

Now have a set of pipes to change.
Found those on the blue car leaking this morning.
Going to refurbish a complete spare rack and do a swap as the pipes are so hard to get at.
Will need to drop a corner of the front sub-frame to do the swap.

Yes the Ram is leaking and the pipes are sheared. The engine is coming out to do the gearbox plate and change the cambelt also whilst its out. This does make the ram and pipes easy to change providing I can find the parts! If I can find a good ram then I'm told pipes will be good too.

Also I have a complete black leather interior available in good condition. Its from a series 1 car.

Hi James, whereabouts are you based & how much are you after for the s1 interior? I'd bet someone on here will have a decent steering ram, would love to see pics of the CX it sounds like I'll be jealous of it though from what Rob said

EDIT-: the original ad said it's had the autobox refurbed, perhaps the flex plate has flexed it's last and cracked with the box coming out? (read of a similar issue on another member's car not so long ago, (MTXM?) caused a knocking sound not unlike a big end, except it wasn't constant.)

That's exactly it; the flex plate has cracked! The final price reflected the need to do this work and the ad was updated with the info prior to sale.

I just want £100 for the interior; I bought it to get the series 1 dash and front door trims, centre console etc. I'm in Coventry so nice and central!

I'll try and post some pictures of the CX but having difficulty because the files are large. Do you know what the size limit is?

Welcome to the Forum and the world of XMs James and we met and spoke briefly at the 25th anniversary bash. I wish you all the best with your latest project and it was interesting to hear about the engine-auto gearbox flex plate problem as the same thing has happened to my 1990 PRV V6 12v! Hopefully you will find it easier to source the new part you need being an ESJ and my replacement came from an enthusiast in France. With regards, Matthew T.

Ah James, the flying cigar is very nice.

S1 V6-24 alloys are the ones with dogleg spokes. They ran through onto S2 exclusive spec to 1996.
