So I've taken the back box off the XM today to do a couple of welded repairs to get it through the MoT, unfortunately as I removed it a few chunks of catalyst dropped out, it appears the element has shattered through water cooling or impact rather than melted

anyway the upshot of this is we now likely need a cat to get through the next MoT, unless '94 XM's are one of the cars that can pass emissions without one. Damn thing was only replaced 5 years ago along with the head work!
Not sure if the 2.0i is the same as turbo or any others, but even just a cat with about 6" of pipe either end would suffice for now as long as it's got a lambda bung & I'll weld our downpipe and outlet onto that. Assume the turbo downpipe will be different at least. I'll post a pic of what it's like anyway shortly.
Whatever you've got let us know please, might even be after 2 cats if the price is keen, one for getting on the road now and a spare in case it IS overfuelling and kills another before I can fix the cause. could use the lambda sensor too as that may be a cause,
