The difference in the front end of the headlining between the very first cars and the rest is subtle but annoying. Trapezoidal courtesy light, smaller sun visors and a larger sunroof set closer to the front of the car. Even if I did not fit the fibreglass moulding I would still have to cut a sunroof opening, grab handle indents and swap the front handle from lhd to rhd.

Anyone got the connector for the bulb to sit on, or even a full light.

AHHH, no wonder if it hasn't got a flipping bulb holder! The other light unit looks in decent nick though.

Only on Sunday I had to sort my fog lights out. I hate the way the wires are trapped via the flap. The insulation just gets worn away. Both mine had stopped working. Clean up of the little connectors on the brown plugs which were rusty, and now they work again.

I'm going to cut a groove in the flap to allow the wires through.

The os light is like new, the ns one is on it's last legs.

I thought the same, Eddie. A slot in the flap, with a (sliced) grommet round the cables. What an odd arrangement...

Before and after

Found the little bugger, hiding in a corner

I'm tempted to renew this whilst the arch cover is off.

A little bit of other work whilst I'm waiting for the main course to dry out - at 2c

Proceedings have gone all too slowly today due to the cold weather drying the paint in the wheel arch area at it's own pace. Everything's prepped and ready to go back on just Mother Nature isn't playing ball. And I need to get this part of her done quickly as my Xantia is due her test in a fortnight and I haven't even begun to look at her yet.

Is that bracket to support the temp sensor Neil as I have not seen one before? Regards, Matthew T.

The temp sensor will not fit into that bracket like that but will if turned upside down. Now whether it's supposed to fit in there in the first place . . .

After this afternoons task, I was visibly shivering and teeth were chattering. So I share your frustration there.

Painted strut tops too. Are you after best in show Sir?!

And we both know that spending six weeks underneath a car in a freezing garage in the middle of winter making the car solid for the next ten years (hopefully) counts for nothing when compared to someone spending 20 minutes polishing their car at a meet with everyone watching. ;)

I started out with the intention of just ridding the rear of the car of the dreaded rust, of which there was plenty, and have ended up doing the whole of the underneath, wheels and wheel arches, engine bay, gear linkages, and this had been delivered today

New heater pipes ready to fit - when I get half a chance

And when I've done all that there's the headlining to sort. :P
