Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

The alloys were on when I bought it, but I think they look nicer than Citroen OE ones. I have wondered about the fitting, because they are obviously made to have a hub cap, but the chrome Bolt Heads are too high. Probably a good thing, you wouldn't want a bloody Vauxhal emblem on a Citroen. Thanks for the background though. Saves me wondering why they didn't fit the hub caps. Kit

Peter, I have decided not to be a wimp. I am going to change the turbo pipe. I will keep the camera handy and let you know what happens! My plan is to start from the top, taking inlet manifold off and then see what space Ive got. At least I wont have to undo my turbo exhaust pipe, it's broken right next to the turbo. I am hoping that I can remove the engine stabiliser and tip the engine forward, I wont have as much room as you had with the cylinder head off. If that doesn't work I will suspend the engine from a hoist, remove all the mounts to eneble me to move the engine away from the bulkhead. And if that does not give me enough room I will just have to take the engine out. I think I will go down the route of replacing the pipe and turbo as a unit. To look on the bright side, I will be able to get a the clutch cable lever and free it up. I think I will start a new topic under Diesel Engines, no doubt someone else will need to change a turbo on a 2.1 and it could help them. Kit

Jonathan, I notice you have a BX, if you are a member of BX forum would you like to pass on the following. The BX 1.6 petrol engine camshaft pulley has two sizes of retaining bolt, Haynes gives the torque figures for the larger bolt, if you use the Haynes figure with the smaller bolt you will end up with half the bolt in the end of the camshaft, and the other half on the floor! I was lucky, I stopped just in time, when I took the bolt out it had a wonderfull hourglass shape. And yes, I did take a few moments to thank the Gods. Kit

Well done Kit, I wish you well with it. I was thinking about the job last night, just in case I inherited it :D Its very difficult to get the manifold off with the engine in situ, when I did the head I took it off complete with manifold and still didn't find it very easy. I was thinking though, if you were to disconnect the bottom engine mounting I wonder if you could pull the engine forward or whether the pivot point would be in the wrong place, you would probably have to take the radiator out but that's not a big deal.

If you can see the nuts that bolt the pipe onto the turbo, I doubt that you will get them undone but if you slip some bigger nuts over them and weld them on you wil be able to apply much more force to them and the heat may well loosen them a little, If you still want my pipe assembly, see how you get on with dismantling yours, when you are sure you can do it I will have a go at getting this one off.
