I know the EGR valve makes access difficult, but would it be enough to stop the turbo being withdrawn the same as a Non-EGR car?

Was the complete manifold removed, or the turbo unbolted from the manifold, in situ.

Hi BB Thanks for your extensive description, Is the car drive-able ie: does it all run engine/suspension etc and is it MOT'd would it get back to Shropshire on road. Also I have 3 other xm's and as you say the chrome trim is bad on all of them, common fault. would you mind to pass on the members name and link for the side stainless steel strips you mention

Hi Keith,

I think you were interested in my car. I've decided to keep it, for now, a I ha the turbo replaced.

If you are ever near Cambridge, you are welcome to take a look at it, to see if an XM is right for you.
