WANTED: Chrome Bumper Trim and Insert Panels

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Brian in fact got in touch with me just after your email, and he's now sending me a set of side trims... ;) which are considerably cheaper than the bumper inserts I've also ordered from Chevronics :( Poor Brian is still getting over a crash in his C3, but confirmed that he's back ij business with the S/S inserts.

But has anyone got a steer on the plastic covers for the two inspection/access panels underneath the front valence? The car's in the bodyshop now and could use them! :|

Have you tried Citroen?
I have a pair in primer still in the bag but they will be buried deep along with some recovered ones.
I will see what I can find this weekend.

If you can find a pair John, that'd be fantastic. But by the same token, a scrapper would be a result ! Please keep me posted.

I took the plunge and ponied up for a new front bumper trim. I think I may have grabbed one of Chevronics last stock of this (there's still a rear bumper trim on eBay). Check the photo just to see what these things were like when new compared to what they look like now  (this one still has the blue protective tape on)

Turns out to be easy enough to remove the old one just by prising of. However, that's where the fun started. The new ones retaining clips don't align with the old ones. I'm guessing maybe a difference between S1/S2. Looks like I'm going to have to cut some new holes to fit this. I guess a Dremel should do the job.

The trim itself has a manufacturers date of 2010 so pretty recent from an OEM manufacturer called http://www.silvatrim.com.br/eng/fale.asp, looks like Citroen were still supplying these up until quite recently. I wonder if Silvatrim might even have some old spare stock lying around. I've pinged them an email just to see maybe if enough people were interested we could get them to manufacturer a small run of them?

Well done on getting the original manufacturers name and contacting them. Please keep us informed.

I once saw some new plastichrome side inserts advertised, but have never been able to find the advert again. The bumper tims are just bent to shape from the same profile as used for the side trims.

As an aside, your original bumper trim looks like it has gone cloudy, but not oxydised underneath, in which case a bit of sanding and polishing should make it serviceable again.

A quick check on Mk2's shows the rear silver trim on both cars and estates to be 4 or 5mm wider that all the other strips.

I would be up for a new front and rear bumper trim piece.

On another note I have replaced all my side trims with Brian's stainless kit :)

Most of the old trims were pretty good apart from the short ones next to the wheel arches.

Happy for them to go to a good home for VERY sensible money AKA a pint!

I am hoping to make it to Little Horwood in September for the Citroen Rally.

Also happy to post out if you are keen!

I had to trim this down a little as it was about a 1cm too long on both ends.

"it has gone cloudy, but not oxidised underneath" - hmmm so this really is only the outside of the plastic which has deteriorated, I assumed the damage was underneath where the chrome meets the plastic. I'll have a go at polishing it up and see what results I get. Gives me optimism for cleaning up the side trims. If that works I'll be super happy!

Brian Primmer still advertises the replacement trims in the CCC magazine, details easy to find on here.
