Wanted Windscreen trim Drivers side A Pilar & roof

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Wanted Windscreen trim Drivers side A Pilar & roof

Post by brillo » Thu Aug 25, 2016 4:48 pm

Hi All

Well the old 2.5TD Estate has given me another problem, If I did not know better I would say that this car has it in for me, not satisfied with collecting a stone through the drivers side front quarter window [in previous WANTED post) but today on the Motorway it decided to shed the drivers side A pillar windscreen trim taking with it the Roof windscreen trim and the part between the scuttle panel and the wing [sort of triangular shaped piece of plastic]

No Chance of retrieval as I was in the centre lane of a three lane road at 60 mph

Has anyone got any of these parts available

Any help much appreciated

These cars could get your back up if you let them.

The top windscreen trim will HAVE to come from an estate..

Im not sure if the A pillar trim is the same on Hatch and estate... if so, YES Im breaking a Hatch XM..

Yur XM is an S2, again the end scuttle trim piece will also need to come from an S2 because of mirror base meeting faces...

The Estate screen trim comes as a single joined "L" shaped piece for each side and half the top.
There is also a little tiny cover piece for the top centre join.
For it all to fly off suggest that the plastic "U" section fixing has broken up.
The new bit will therefore need gluing in place.

Thanks for the clarification, I will defiantly use some sort of adhesive to fix the trim assuming I am ever able to get the replacement parts.

Many thanks for the replies a member on here Citroenxm is looking to see if he has a Quarter light, the old girl is beginning to look a bit of a mess now.

What colour green is the car (emerald or forest).

Hi John only just spotted your post

I'm afraid its not Green, its even worse than that its BROWN !

I'm assuming there is only one Brown they could not have done two shades surely ?

Many Thanks

So far I have found green, silver, blue and red.
I was going to give you the red one and tell you to paint it.
Now I will have a look through the trim drawers (heap sorting progress) and look for a Bronze one.
You might even be lucky as I have had 3 XM's that colour.
It will of course delay the alternative cruise switch write up.

Hi John

Very kind to keep looking for a Bronze one, if you don't find one I can always repaint or go for a alternative look short term, I have given the Cruise Control Stalk a unfortunate Whack while trying to open the Ashtray to get to the cigarette lighter socket (it seems that the bulb had melted the inside of the illuminated release switch) so I will start a thread on how to take that apart unless it has already been covered, I did look but could not find anything if there has been a thread I am sure you will remember.

The stalk did not react well to me bashing it, but I have managed to repair it (I think)

sorry for the late reply but I just can not get the forum to Email me when a thread I have contributed to has a Reply.

Thanks Again for your efforts

Hi Marc

Not had the chance to sort any thing further due to pressing other matters.
After this weekend normality should return.
Arrange a suitable time to come over and I will make sure all the bits are waiting.
Spare cruise switches can be on hand for test purposes.
