Hello,

Would the ignition switch still be available?
I'm after one for an S2, although its petrol (TCT), fairly sure they're compatible, anyone know definitively?

the ignition switch and key went to Russ's. It was an S2 estate so 100% compatible I would have thought.

All I have left is the central locking fob and black box for it, plus a known good steering rack, whatever comes from underneath the stern and clutch cable (still attached to bulkhead). Oh and there will be two steel wheels too.

Russ, I've found two more boxes of trim and electrical bits and am close to the final cutting up of the back end to rescue the rear suspension and wheel carrier.

It's good most of these bits have been salavged and I hope to see them reused by someone.

Hi Ray

The ignition switches on your cars are not all the same.
Early XM version has different wire connections to the car than the later one.
Change over date is Mk 1 facelift (1992).
Late Mk 1's use the same ignition lock wiring as Mk2 XM's.
The two makes of ignition switch are Simplex and Valeo.
Both manufacturers made early and late type switches.
So the marked make does not tell you the type of XM it fits.
All Xm's left the factory with Simplex ignition switches.
Valeo switches were replacement parts only.
These are mechanically and electrically more reliable.
They also are slightly less secure than the original XM switches being designed for a key with an immo chip.

Anybody has any other means to contact Campbell? Want a part that he has, and been trying email and forum msg but though he responded at first, he then went off sight. There's probably a good reason for it, but could be that he's not loggin in too much here and the email doesn't work.
