VERY Early car for sale!

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I believe this is also for sale in the Citroenian. But no price mentioned, or pics for that matter.
It looks like it might be in decent condition, apart from the rusty bits.

I agree Paul. It needs to be saved.

It's also on Car & Classic for £950. Now either the price of these early motors has shot up recently or I'm seriously under-valuing mine.

From the pictures the bodywork and paintwork looks in decent knick, save for the osf wing just behind the front wheel. The interior looks pretty good as well, but the engine bay looks like it needs more than a bit of tlc. The oily engine doesn't do it any favours. Then there's how much welding is there and what tale does that have to tell on the state of the rear end.

This kind of very early stuff is what I really like . . . but not at that price. I'll stick with what I've got thank you very much.

My thoughts exactly.

The previous sale had me thinking a low figure, even before we found out about the rust. There was a reason it was being sold with only a couple of weeks MOT on it. My guess says it has had more than one failure notice, or a very poor previous pass.

How interesting that yet another early car has appeared and just a shame it is not a V6!! I had also noted the early model for sale in the Citroenian like Russ but not made the connection.
Making its one of the oldest in the UK we know of.. NO MTXMs lhd one doesnt count.
I am quite happy to own the earliest XM and earliest lhd XM in the UK Paul and just as interested in the rhd cars!!

Hopefully someone will be prepared to rake this one on and it would certainly make a nice matching pair for Neil!

It'll be interesting to see if this sells at that price, it's certainly caused a lot of interest.

The car is obviously worth the price paid because someone paid it!
I for one cant wait for prices to start rising, if the car holds some value then they will be worth fixing when they die.

Seeing as he can't wait to get rid of it so soon after buying it I doubt very much if he would have paid that price for it in the first place if he had known about the extent of the welding that the car needed.

Although it doesn't seem to have stopped him from assuming he'll get his money back!

We shall wait and see if the new owner joins the forum. It would be quite good to keep tabs on it.

My interest would be more in what he paid for it and how much work it really does need.

The answers to those questions dictate whether the value of the early car really is rising . . . or another bloody fool has bought it.
