Re: L-Reg XM 2.1 SD Turbo Auto for sale
Just recalled: I also rebuilt the height correctors, the linkages and the pivot bushes as well as all the spheres and LHM. The hydracvtive worked very well after CitroJim cleared the stored fault codes with his lexia at a rally.

Re: L-Reg XM 2.1 SD Turbo Auto for sale
Have removed the ad - decided to keep the car. I fixed a couple of small issues on the car in prep for the sale I just realized I would really really miss it. I prefer the diesel over the petrol anyway and I don't get speeding fines
Thanks for all the info on the history Graeme, I wasn't aware of the water pump and tensioner not being replaced with the belt, that will be tackled in the week. The headlining will need attention at some stage as well as I've noticed its starting to sag at the sun visors. I also have a spare set of headlights to fit as the current ones lenses has yellowed quite badly.
I will be taking it to the X-rally so hopefully see some of you there.
Now just need to decide what to do with the newly acquired one, I have been given a shed to use on a family members farm outside Cardiff so I might just keep it and use it on special occasions, it only has 47k on the clock and is in exceptional condition. Ice cold aircon and EVERYTHING works, for an S1 I think its something special
Cheers,
Will

The headlining isn't a complicated job, just fiddly, if the material is coming away it 'could' be that it's getting wet from either a leaking aerial base, sunroof motor mounting screws or the sunroof itself.
Looking forward to seeing your car at X-Rally

Two ways of doing the headlining - remove the front trim and courtesy light, peel back the covering, apply Sikaflex and hope it stays up. The better way is to remove the headlining completely, remove the cover (and stick it in the washer
), rub the fibreglass down with a wire brush, apply Sikaflex to the fibreglass and then apply the cover to the fibreglass working from the middle outwards.

Re: L-Reg XM 2.1 SD Turbo Auto for sale
OEM headlinings aren't made of fibreglass, they are made of a cushioned material base with the stretchy material covering stuck on. I suspect the originaly adhesive is water based and thus tends to fail over time and any moisture quickly causes that failure.
The best way to stick it back is to use a spray on material adhesive, but any light tack adhesive works well.
