XM V6 Project Available...

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

XM V6 Project Available...

Post by CitroJim » Mon Sep 19, 2011 1:08 pm

It is with great regret that I have had to take a very painful decision to shelve my XM V6 restoration plans. The reasons are many, rather complex and difficult, all of which are not open for discussion or debate. It has not been a lightly taken decision.

So, my XM is available as an ongoing project to anyone who is willing to trailer it away.

You all know its history and provenance but briefly it's an S2 1999 V6 ES9 with the ZF 4HP20 gearbox. The gearbox is dead.

The car is bodily sound, very straight and the interior (leather) is spotless. Mechanically it's OK and has an after-market LPG kit fitted. All that needs to be good is good.

For anyone willing to take it on and take it away on a trailer for restoration and repair, I'll let it go for a really very small (negotiable) amount of money. I'll also throw in a good spares gearbox and even assist with a gearbox rebuild from a distance if necessary.

If no interest is shown by the end of this week then sadly I'll be weighing it in but I'll not weigh it in before offering a couple of open weekends for anyone who wants to salvage anything from it they need. I have no time or space to break myself it or send items by post. If there is anything you want, come here, remove it, make me a small offer for it and take it away.

As I say, if no interest is shown this week then this weekend will be the first dismantling weekend and that will be held open until the following weekend. What then remains will be sent to the crusher.

I reiterate that I do not want to open a debate about the whys and wherefores of my decision. The car is available and if you want it, come and get it. I'd love it to go to a good home where it will get the restoration it deserves but if that cannot happen then I'll be equally pleased to see at least some of it go to keep other XMs alive.

The leather and LPG alone has to be worth a trip here...

Any questions, please do get in touch.

Thanks.
Jim

No sooner had I pressed the submit button on the above post the phone rang with an immediate expression of serious interest and intent.

The car will be restored and put back on the road by the party expressing interest and I will continue to have some involvement in that endeavor, certainly from a gearbox point of view.

Thnaks Dav...

I'm working hard on improving those circumstances...

Sorry you were beaten to it but I guess the logistics of getting a non-runner to your neck of the woods would have been almost insurmountable?

not really if the car was cheap :)
but i'd have figured something out to stop it being scrapped, hell that is why i brought over two activas ..
and probably why you took the car in the first place.

but seriously i do hope that your circumstances improve, and if i can help feel free to ask (though i am across the pond and probably not much good :()
