Selling off one (or bits

) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

The brakes on one of our XMs stuck on at one point. I first thought it was just the fronts and could not work out why both front ones would stick on. After taking them apart all seemed fine and free. It was at this point that I tried to spin a rear wheel and noticed that was binding too. It was the brake linkage which is located beneith the scuttle that had seized up.
It might be worth checking on yours, as that would explain why they both stuck at once and also why you cant wind back the pistons.
Good luck with it

Thanks Chris. I'll take a look. It is another thing to check out. Quite a few suggestions have been to look at the Brake control valve linkage. I wouldn't be surprised put it that way.
Interestingly, this might, might just explain that screeching from the back. As it did sound like straining, like when a car is parked on a hill and you apply the handbrake and it kind of strains a little until it grips and holds. Only it might be gripping and not releasing in my case. But then I drove it round the back to the garage and it was fine. I don't know.

Everything I do is on a Mac now which is why I don't draw anything 'real' anymore. Proper freehand ilustration isn't
affordable for commercial use now unless someone specifically wants to part with lots of money with a commission
- why I'm designing brochures/exhibitions/websites/logos etc to subsidise my home for fallen Citroens. I may
as well not have the actual skill of drawing really now computers have dumbed it all down - some of the other
graphic designers I work with can't draw anything!

That is what got me thinking to spin a rear wheel, as I could hear the brakes at the back struggling when I was moving the car. Sounds like yours has the same issue

I have found this. I just don't do any drawing at all now. I used to be always sketching, but now it's all computer based. Shame really, but it has made things more efficient...I suppose!
I do similar things to you, as well as the car art stuff. I am currently working with National Express on some things.
But I also have a list of commissions growing too. Got to start on Tony Stokes Lancia at some point.

Interesting Chris...the plot thickens. How would you loosen it. Simple lubrication...what did you do?

I just kept working it and lubricating with some freeing agent. I think I used Forte rust penetrant or something similar. The problem has never returned, that must have been well over a year ago.

Okay, I'll do that anyway, might be a good idea. Thanks Chris.
The more I think about it the more it does sound like this could be the culprit.
Could this be the break through......
