Buying AC climate temperature sensor

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Buying AC climate temperature sensor

Post by Madis » Sun May 04, 2014 8:23 pm

Hello, since I can't find any of those on ebay(and there are not that much XM's in Estonia), I'll hope to get lucky here.

I need it for my Y4 XM, the sensor is in the roof(light panel), picture of it can be found: http://www.upload.ee/image/4037424/WP_20140503_008.jpg.

What's wrong with it? I think there are people on this forum who have cleaned and fixed them.

I had problems with it in last summer aswell, the AC started to blow only cold air. Then I cleaned it and everything was fine until now. I cleaned it again but the AC still blows cold air. It has been pretty noisey in last ~1.5 years when it was still working, now after it started causing problems again it's not making any noise. The little rotor still goes around in it but I supect that it's not rotating fast enough.

I've never heard of this sensor to fail, which is not to say it's impossible.
Parts of the AC system that are known to fail though are the flap servo motors. I've had this myself three times. If the motor for hot/cold malfunctions the flap may be stuck in the cold mode. I'd start looking there first, before suspecting the roof sensor.

The roof-mounted tiny sensor motor should operate just about silently. Any noise from it suggests the motor bearings are dry.

Yes, and it does not suggest anything wrong with the sensor.
