Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

The answers to those questions dictate whether the value of the early car really is rising . . . or another bloody fool has bought it.
If someone can do their own welding then the repairs cost is very low.

I would suggest this isn't about the cost of repair but the amount of repair needed. If someone has viewed the car and seen that it does indeed need complete inner sills and half the floor doing, and then will need the rear end stripping down to remove all the rust, that's a different scenario to someone who's taken it at face value that it only needs welding on the inner rails and a bit at the front.

The sum of £800 for the welding always smacked of either the seller or the welder not being completely honest about the amount of work needed.

The car generally looked Ok in the pictures, so I don't think there is widespread rot, but it seems to be impossible to get the current registration number form either seller, which strikes me as odd.

Main floor pans are generally ok.. its all the box's that catch the water and rusts.. front rigger boxs behind the jacking points.. the boxs under the B pillars and the boxs under the boot floor as well as outer cills.. and the corners behind the bottom of the wing Legs which catch soil and mud over the years .. yes even with an inner arch liner .. it then holds water.. and encourages rot..

Don't get me wrong here fellas, I would have been quite happy to talk money in order to get this car. It fits in with my needs completely as an early car but the sellers unwillingness to reveal the true state of the welding needed and the registration number put me off. I sent him two messages on ebay and didn't receive an answer to either.
