This looks like a nice one!

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Xm's have to be wacky and gizmo'd up to be charming?
You can't say that with a straight face surely Will!

I'm sure the gizmo's which would pass many non Cit-cognocenti by just add weight and complexity.
A base 2.0i H plater I have is immensely quick I'm certain in no part thanks to not having to lug
about the silly autobox and catalytic convertor, lekky armrest, lekky seat motors, rear glass screens.
Put that lot in the boot and try driving it about the place.

Nice to have in the car don't get me wrong, but not a deal breaker or detrimental to the 'base spec'
models!

when it works perfectly, I like it - if it doesn't ...

some cars do not need all the gadgets - my smart roadster is devoid of extraneous electrical rubbish - and it is 30kg lighter as a result.

All corresponding I and D models, thats under the Si and Sd trim levels, and also Prestege models had a Diagram the of the Car with brake light fail and door open warning display rather then the FULL Information DOT matrix displays in S1/SD upwards specs.......

I and D models also had manual rear windows...

I know, but it just felt naked without a proper dot matrix display...and those awful front door speaker covers and door cards...

These I and D cars are postively plush compared to the old base spec carb and presumably n/a diesels that never really made it over here.

Agreed with you both, at least from around 1992 hey gained electric mirrors, A MUST for such a large car...

My 1989 G reg 2.oi I had years ago, was soooo basic.. Only Electric Windows and sunroof... It was awfull... such a wide car should essencially have electric mirrors too..

I, to also dislike the basic dash display, the DOT matrix finish's it off, though I think, Like Renault, the SE spec should have also TALKED..... Yay... *runs and hides*...

I can't honestly believe you lot getting so excited about Xm gizmo's! My first car was a Gs and
I still think it's the best car I've ever bought and that had the 'sophisticated' addition of a round
clock to go with the superb rev/speedo and battery charge in it's gorgeous dash. The dash was
flimsy and plastikky yes though looked out of this world and has far superior ergonomics to the
mess that is found in an Xm especially with it's slim light stalks a little finger's flex away.

Voice? Can you imagine how difficult it would be to concentrate on driving if the Xm spoke to
you every 10 seconds about a rear offside brake light not working or ABS out of use; even in a
French sexkitten accent or more likely a mangled Allo Allo Franglais? Certainly wouldn't work
in a French car if it sounded like a BBC shipping or stock market forecast, more likely as
this is where Citroen pitched the car when launched to the power dressed yuppies with their
striped shirts and padded shoulders...
