Petrol is a wise choice i think.

I wouldnt worry about the scare stories, your buying a large french car which is very complicated, most dont understand and parts are expensive, so the same rubbish that was spouted about the XM 15 years ago.

Ive driven a few C6's and i would say the car is superior in almost every way to the xm, best of luck with it, they are a lovely vehicle.

I was sorry to hear that you are once again looking to sell your car James and especially after sorting recent problems! For my part I shall definitely be sticking with the XM and have no plans to 'upgrade' to a C6, which as with older models I admire from a safe distance! Apart from generally preferring cars of a 'certain age and era', there is a strong attraction in being able to maintain the vehicle myself and obtain modestly priced parts. I have now have a stockpile of spares to last me out I hope and will be driving XMs into my dotage! With regards, Matthew T.

Took the lights out and apart for cleaning yesterday. What a difference to the light output! Must have left a bit of water in the left one though as it's got a bit of mist in it.

XM lighs suffer terribly when the reflectors are dirty. A clean out and polish of the fresnel makes a tremendous difference.

Fresnels were the wrong way round. Wish I'd done my research and read about the peroxide to remove the yellowing as you recommended.

Simple t-cut can do the trick too. The peroxide only works in strong sunshine, but it is the gentlest way of cleaning them.

Those fresnels look pretty good now.
T-cut, and Mer, have worked for me. The yellowing is chiefly at the surface, and can be largely polished out if not too severe.
Do like that rare Delage Red - not far away from BX Richelieu Red in a certain light.

Afaik, the yellowing is the UV coating applied to the fresnel lenses, no the actual plastic. Abrasion removes the lacquer quickly.
