You can't go wrong with AEP Direct for spheres, there is a 'how to' guide on here if you're changing them yourself. Don't forget to replace the LHM if the car has been sat for 5 years.

Yeah i will do them myself as i am a garage owner. I have already changed the fluid but will do it again once i fit new spheres. I am going to replace them all. I didn't give much for the car and i think she deserves a full set

With non working windows work out if the problem is mechanical or electrical first.
Look for dropped glass, wedges or tape holding the glass up as this shows drive wires broken.
You can get repair kits from ebay (will add details later) but the quickest fix is a secondhand winder.
I have a few recovered ones and can supply details of the fitting.
For the electrical side all but the drivers window are driven by simple 2 wire motors.
All these three windows have a chain two switch control so that both driver and passenger can operate them.
The rears also have a child isolation switch.
The switch contacts oxidise over time and are a more common problem than the motor wires.
Cleaning and regular use quite often fixes them
Problems with these are best checked by testing electrically at the switch nearest the suspect window.
With the switch removed the plug can be checked for voltage.
If volts and earth are present check with a spare known good switch.
The drivers window motor is a bit more complex on your XM so will come back to that.

Great info John. I am going to take door cards off and check everything this weekend. I am sure it will be something simple as its never carried any passengers due to it coming from a home with no kids and they owned it from new. Not only that the seats look like brand new.

The drivers window motor works but i can her the cables in the door crunching up. As for the others there is no sign of nothing.

Like you said i will start with the simple things likes switches ect and ill test the wires.

e-crofting used to sell window wire kits, but a pedal cycle cable would work just as well.

Chevronics have some bumper trims in stock, but not cheap.

Your car sounds like a real bargain.

As for the car, yes bargain. I am over the moon with it. I was looking for a old bx diesel and then found the xm dumped on a drive. TBH i am a diesel man unless its 500bhp with 2 turbos and 4mpg I would love this car to be diesel but i am still happy as fook
