The gearbox would be the least of my worries after rust, rust, the engine and of course rust.

I would also be a bit concerned about possible present or lurking gearbox issues after my recent bitter experience Dean, while the engines are fairly robust. As yet I have seen no detail on the condition of the car, including the dreaded rust. There may be a few holes in the sills and/or sub-frames at worst from standing around, but to me that is rather less of a challenge to fix than removing and rebuilding the engine and box! This must be the V6 Barry was talking to us about at the Chevrons rally Matthew. As I recall he didn't or couldn't remember much about it.

I have heard back from Barry and apparently the car belongs to a former customer and is actually located in Surrey! The car has been off the road for about 10 years and a new gearbox was fitted by Barry who has promised some photos. Regards, Matthew T.

So it's more likely to be rust and engine issues to worry about.

It depends where it has been sitting for the last ten years Russ! A cosy garage store could mean nice condition all round, in addition to the lower mileage! Regards, Matthew T.

I am sorry I did not remember that Russ, although in some ways outside can be better, provided there is no grass or weeds underneath, which was a problem with my Cobalt car! With regards, Matthew T.
