MANUAL 2.1TD SILVER ESTATE!! :-) = S1 though :-(

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I must admit the most of the S1's I've looked at have had less visible rust than the S2's, a couple of mine have a little rust round the edge of the rear wings but no rot whatsoever.

Sorry about the confusion Peter........I meant the S2 car with the rear bumper for sale. But as Andrew pointed out, it probably has some sort of damage anyway (as he is selling bits of it)......although it is taxed until October 2010.

Andrew, I only mentioned it as Peter has always expressed a preference for S2 cars (which I can fully understand, having previously had the misfortune of owning a S1 car :( ).

I have never had any trouble from my series 1 XM, and it is one of the most liable to give problems, being built in 1989, and it has all its original mutliplug type earth blocks!

Give the series 1 a try again Peter, if you don't like it, sell it on to someone on here/e-bay, and get your money back. One thing though, going by the mileages you achieve in your 2.1s this one has a hell of a lot of driving left in it! 200k easy 8-) .

Full MOT is good news - but I see from the DVLA vehicle check that the silver/grey Mk1 has not been taxed since 2005. Do XMs suffer from lack of use?

Hi Tim,
I tried to do the DVLA vehicle enquiry with using the the reg. number from the rear photo shot, but came back with this message "Vehicle details could not be found" !
Did you make out the reg. number as 'K67 NGC' or did I decipher it incorrectly ?
An XM if for life, (Not just for Christmas) !

I've got a good many cars that are now effectively "unlicenced" as they're pre-SORN
(the pre insidious continuous licencing invasive BIG brother). I'm probably
breaking their "law" as the cars are in storage but not being used/taxed or SORN'ed
but for the time being, the situation suits me fine - the paperchase they've invented
with SORN means I'm updating many SORN records on a monthly basis already without
adding EVEN MORE and should I miss even a single reminder, the bill for the fine and
calculated back duty always manages to find me with menaces from a minimum of
70-80 quid o matter how cackhanded the RoyalMail is...

there's no reasoning/compassion/common sense and they're purely robots collecting
money with the premise that you're guilty no matter what even if you believe you can
prove you're innocent. Bastards!!

Anyhow, a car appears on DVLA records as unlicenced until you apply for a new licence
"TAX DISC" and surrender the pre updated reg doc for their records to update and
a new Document to be issued (FOC but probably not for much longer as they're
an "Agency" now and survive by being a money spinner). Vehicles that are pre SORN
are regarded by DVLA as in limbo/dormant but NOT unregistered just unlicenced.

You don't pay the bastards do you

Next time it happens send me a PM, and I shall forward you a letter I came up with that has worked for me, and should for you too in order to extricate yourself from such a situation..
