SED auto for sale

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Right;

I've fixed the dash top-box; fabricated a pin from a nail (one of the pins was missing)

I've cleaned up the connections to the H4 ECU. Will solder in the diodes later, and re-fit. Will re-seal when I know all is well. MOSFETs look okay; certainly not burnt-out.

Regarding the cabin shower feature; I've removed the sunroof motor completely. The front drains are passing water; and the aerial aperture is dry; so I'm guessing it's the sunroof motor mounting threads. Will wait for the next internal shower, and see where it is leaking from

Will keep you posted of any developments

The length of the engine dipstick would prove handy; if anyone has a spare couple of minutes

TIA

This one is a very late S1.5.. and has an H4 ECU and 'Normal' and 'Sports' suspension, which point to it being Hydractive 2, and as such as prone to this as any S2 car

Still disagree with you Stewart, I had an M reg S1.5 Tubo, and it was fine in this department.. Its still the changed system setup on S2 cars that cause the problem. It was not fitted to the S1.5 cars.

Hi Paul

I believe Zaphod is right.
According to the Citroen workshop manual the Hyractive 2 was introduced from ORGA 5929.
It was standard fit on all XM models built from 01/12/1994.
Published on 30/11/1994 booklet 9 XM 430-00/2 is 32 pages describing the revised suspension system.
The system was already in production on the Xantia and there is a note that the XM H4 ECU while carrying the same markings was different.
It must not be fitted to an Xantia and vice versa.

Hi Paul

In practice I suspect that that was also the cut over date when they started to convert some of the production lines to produce Mk2's.
They would have needed a good stock produced for launch date.
That would have drastically limited the number of Mk1's made with Hydractive 2, it is possible there may not have been any RHD ones made at all.
Would also be interesting to know what ORGA they put on the early produced Mk2's.

I would think it would by then, only early cars had Hydractive 1. My first and this current car are Hyd 1, my one bought new in Jan 1994 was Hyd 2.

Thanks, AlanN

I shall get measuring.

On the leak front; the water ingres is from right by the font sunroof-motor mount; not from the thread itself; but right next to it. There is a clip, that seems to hold the thread (on a plate) to the roof of the car. It is leaking past this plate. Have removed the aerial (and previous sealant - thin blue bead) and liberally applied fresh sealant, and refitted. I'm still no better off; but I'm wondering if the leak now, is from water that has already found it's way into the car.

Time will tell
