eBay - "XM Diesel Auto"

Well it certainly looks nice, but at 170k miles and in need of a head gasket job and according to my conversation with its owner, quite a lot else, I reckon it's only for the brave and mechanically competent and well equipped... which sadly doesn't include me.

There's another similarly spec'd car on fleaBay, 1999 and low mileage too, but it's up in Sunderland and the vendor keeps revealing more and more things wrong with it... hideous wheels, too.

Oh I see - I thought you were being super-cryptic!

And since you mention it, besides needing a cambelt shortly, it will require a drop-link bush and possibly another bush in the steering dept., for the (imminent) MoT, various electrics don't work (as stated in the ad.), there's apparently an intermittent fault in the suspension which stiffens the rear end but not the front and so on. The vendor was pretty honest about it when pushed, but anyway it's just been sold for £700, so a good mechanic – which sadly I'm not - has probably got a bargain.

No, sorry, this was the 1999 fleaBay one up in Sunderland, not the one with the bust head gasket in Kent.
