XM MK1's/MK2 2.5 TD/Others F/S- The Lost Tribe&Rust In Peace

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I found the pictures I took of that garage/house, only a few bad ones as I didn't want to get noticed  It is the same one you pictured, I didn't see any XMs so it might just be one, I remember saying he had a few round the back but that could be cars in general.

I really enjoy seeing things like that, as sad as it is that the cars are going to waste there is not a huge call for them. Id rather they sat about, abandoned and decaying than just sent to the crusher, at least parts can be salvaged over time to keep the better cars on the road.

There was also a little place between Malton and Driffield which serviced Citroens, they had a small stash of decaying XMs, Xantias, BXs and such. I went a few times for various bits and pieces, though he shut down a few years back and the cars vanished. One was the most rotten S2 estate ive seen, the wheel arches were see through.

I thought it must be the same place Chris and I also spoke to the guy, who seemed quite eccentric and assured me he only had one XM, that was a early SX saloon I think and parked just inside the gate on the left side. The site sure looks like a potential gold mine for BX lovers!! It is funny that you should mention the garage near Driffield, which I also remember as I do some work in the area and I once stopped and talked to the owner. There were no scrap cars at the time although about half a dozen reasonably tidy series 2 XMs were for sale. With regards, Matthew T.

The garage in Driffield seemed to move on scrap cars quite quickly, as they were always changing but a lot were available to get bits from. I remember getting a good few parts for my AX from a couple of AXs he had lying around. I also remember there being two ZXs at one point and to the left of the garage, next to the house, there was a Xantia or two and an XM. This is possibly about 6-7 years ago however. I used to pass it every other weekend.

I think I must have called in quite soon before they closed Chris, as I remember the chap saying they had been stopped from breaking cars, by the Council I guess. There is another used car place on the site now but not Citroens! With regards, Matthew T.

I too wouldn't mind calling in (If was possible) but I'll see what Paul from the BXC comes back with in a couple of days, hopefully with a way forward with allowing the contact details etc from 'Syd' to be given out to interested persons ?

I'll update with info (On this thread) when I know more !

I think all of Syds stuff is for sale and I'm sure he'd be happy for some - even all - of it to be put to good use and earn himself a few bob into the bargain (his Missus will be pleased I know that!) However, he did ask us not to give out his address. I'm going to give him a ring in a couple of days as I assumed there would be 'interest' and see what the best way forward would be. If you just keep a tally of interested parties I'll have a word with Syd and see what he wants to do. In short I just need his 'say so' before I pass on his details. I'm sure there's a way for everyone to get what they want in a 'gentlemanly' way. We can have a chat about it next week anyway. Hope that's OK?

Paul
As promised, Paul (From the BXC) has spoke to Syd and has stated that he only wanted to be contacted by anyone who was really genuine, wanting either spares or complete cars, rather than just to arrange 'A days outing for a look-round' !

So if anyone needs/wants are genuine ? Please PM me for Syd's contact details.

Just to report that I called in to see Sid last week as I happened to be passing! I think there were about eight or ten XMs in all, although only two currently available for spares and one already quite heavily stripped. Apart from a couple of series two 2.5 s (saloon and estate) most of the cars were early 2.0i s. I was pleased to pick up a few bits of useful trim and Sid is a very nice and friendly chap, if a little eccentric! There were quite a number of other cars and bits and pieces, both Citroens and other marques, including a 1950's Bijou almost complete and even more excitingly a Renault Alpine and Lotus Elan tucked away in sheds. The most modern car Sid has is a very nice graphite coloured manual C6 that I think I might have seen at one of the CCC rallies last year. With regards, Matthew T.

XM MK1's/MK2 2.5 TD/Others F/S - The Lost Tribe & Rust In Pe

Post by XMX » Sun Mar 31, 2013 10:06 pm

I know the follow post would sit better in the 'General Chat' section of the forum as a new post, however I thought as that is open to 'Non-members' it was better to place it here where its 'Hidden' from 'Jo-public' and follows on the theme of 'The Lost tribe of Citroen's Living in The Lincolnshire Woods' as this original thread !

So for those folks not on the BXC/forum I thought the following link may 'warm your Cockles ' on this cold Easter evening !

From the BXC 'Rust in Peace' thread  (Which is in the open part of the Forum) !

Enjoy !

I find these pictures of decaying Citroens very disturbing and quite upsetting.

I know I could never live on or even near a property full of old wrecks like that. It would drive me insane...

Hold on. I have an XM. I'm already insane

It is very sad seeing all those cars just rotting. I hadn't joined the forum when this thread started last year, so catching up on it has been very interesting. It is upsetting seeing them...especially the XM's, But if they can give up spares, then that's just as well.

That red mk1 BX in the last set of pics on the BXC forum...now that is a shame.

One thought, I wonder if Syd still has his collection, and a rear window can obtained for Paul?
