N591YBL

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi Dieselman

Forest and Emerald are different greens.
Early Mk2's were produced in both greens.
Typically Green Exclusives and SX's were Emerald Green while Green VSX's were Forest Green.
The difference is not that noticable until you try and mix the panels on a car.

According to Citroen UK brochures no Greens were available as standard when the XM was introduced in 1989.
Triton Green was available for the Estate version in 1991.
Triton and Emerald Greens were available with the face lifted Mk1 XM's in spring 1992.

Hi
Paint code is ESYM H or R can't make out the top of the last letter.
Car is a VSX.
I tried picking the lacquer back to sound material, sanding and spraying but the lacquer failed again. I guess it was the wrong type because it's all crazed now.
I'll have another go with a different kind when the weather is better.
Cheers
Mike

ESYM is indeed Forest green, I'd be interested to see a picture of that.

My suspicion is that you didn't have the old paint well enough cleaned or the temperature was too cold.

Hi Dieselman
Can't figure out how to post a photo. I have one photo of the car when I bought it off ebay.
I could email it if you want.
Yes indeed it was maybe not clean enough :-)

The best way to post a photo is to host it somewhere like photobucket then to copy the link and paste it into your post.

Hi SteveLP

Colour information comes from Citroen UK sales booklets for the respective years.
Will not cover special order and demonstrator vehicles.
Tends to suggest that your SEi was a bit unique.

In a moment of idleness (and to avoid work) I found the original handbook and the car was 'registered' on 1/11/90 so it could have been one of the first. don't know the rp number offhand but you could look it up as the chassis number was 0005AC2783.

I actually paid £6000 for this car in May 1993 with 58000 miles on the clock (all done up and down the M3). Lasted until about 2005 and 195,000miles.
Hardly ever broke down - never had a lhm fault. Not bad for one of those dreaded petrol autos!

Looking at that makes me think my green one was Forest as opposed to Triton.
