Selling off one (or bits

) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I think an Acitva Xm would be hateful!! Activas are bad enough in Xantia form, let along throwing in some Xm banter for the craic to make it more interesting

that is an awesome idea, but there would be a lot of fabrication to do it.
i thought there was plans by citreon to have an activa xm, but the chassis was not suitable? they also cited customer demand as being non existent.
tbh nobody wants to pay to maintain an activa, so a xm activa is doomed from the start.

The Activa 2 was built from an XM, if you look at its roof and rear body shape you will see it IS an XM but it just so happened the Activa was only released in Popular Xantia form, probably for good reason.

is it the same chassis as an xm or just similar styling?

does that look like an xm layout for suspension?

so far as im aware they used an XM/605 chassis pulled of the production line and heavily modified it with different subrames and body panels to take the 4x4 and allwheel steering systems etc, Wonderfull bit of kit when you read about it.

do you have an urls to point to this? 4wd 4ws and activa would be awesome, i did not think it was a stock xm chassis as the new xantia chassis was meant to be miles better, so i'm guessing they did modify it to improve the sportiness of the car.

I noticed it
In the first paragraph HERE there was more info on the all wheel steer on another site and i dont know where now, the 4x4 system was robbed from the BX then beefed up i believe, the early derv Xant chassis looks identicle to the Activa but ive not had them side by side to be sure.

There is an assumption here that there was just one standard XM chassis and subframe.
That is totally wrong.
There were 6 different front subframes for Mk1 XM's by 1992 and two different chassis if you include the estate version.
The Mk2 launch added another 2 chassis types and and extra front subframe for the 2.5TD.
I suspect that the new 4HP20 V6 added futher ones although I have never seen an estate version with this engine.
For normal production the robotic welders were preprogrammed for each variant.
I suspect for each special build part completed shells were taken from the line and manually completed in their variant form.
Prototypes of all the changed models probably emerged this way not just the specials.
If Citroen built a few "activa" XM's for test and evaluation purposes then perhaps some still exist.
I personally see little value in replicating more in that case.
I actually view the activa functionality as a bit of a freak from the safety point of view.
The "activa" tilting adds nothing to roadholding it simply makes the driver less aware of the effects of curving.
That is for the same lateral sensation while curving as a standard car you will actually be faster and much nearer the limit of rubber grip. Not something to forget on a wet and slippery night if your mix of Xantia's includes an Activa.
