1991 V6-24v

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I noticed David says his father had the car at 30-odd K miles. Seller says engine was replaced under warranty at 60K. Can this be corroborated by David or anyone else??
Would also be interested to know if anyone knows if there is any way to tell whether one of these engines has ceramic tappets or not without a total heads-off stripdown or whether any records may survive of cars affected/rectified.

Yup. Engine on the car was replaced by Citroen in France when the car was over there with it's original owner. This was done when the car was 2.5 years old and had around 38k miles on it. My dad bought the car when it was 3 years and a month old and it had 41k miles on it and used it as his daily car until 1998 when he took it off the road intending to keep it but time wasn't on his side and it ended up sitting for ages.

There was a guy in London who contacted me when I was selling the green car and was adamant that it was this car he wanted, pretty much pestering us into selling it so it's a shame now to see it being spoken about ending up in bits but that's the way it goes unfortunately.

If anyone does want a 24v engine and gearbox with wiring loom for a transplant then let me know as I've got a spare.

No i cant have it.. ive seriously no money or room. Anyway got one already..
You could put almost anything back on the road but it will never be a keeper in that body shell, once the rust has bitten its game over no matter how many patches you stick to it, the body shell is nothing special, it would be far easier and cheaper to swap the subframe and running gear into a clean shell, not the Reg or vin plate or r.P number though as that would be very hard, or near impossible to tell its been done and thus naughty.

Swapping the VIN over from this shell would be difficult, it's rotted away.

Teabags have less holes. The VIN has completely gone.

Must have been a regular problem with early XM's.
By Jan 1993 the position had been altered to the main chassis rail.
Citroen also issued an Info rapid to dealers covering position, method and tools for restamping the rusted out chassis VIN.
