What on earth is this?

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

There is no doubt that the CX had far superior suspension - but a stupid handbrake and useless heater. :D

Actually, I'd change that Peter to useless heater, and on a s2 a stupid heater - the controls were made totally
hopeless- the s1's were like a kind of jumbo jet engine power control thrusters and more effective at controlling
the ventilation/heating. I've never found any Cx bad with the heater, it's the fresh air vents that don't work as
the input into the cabin was sited in a duff area of the car's envelope aerodynamically and hampered from the
outset. Pal of mine even consdidered 2CV style heat protected trunking piping plumbed from the front grille to
the air intake throat just beneath the bonnet bump in a bid to draw more ram air in - the extra accessory that
Citroen themselves even offered at the time (admission of bad design?) doesn't alter things one bit!

Hi Andrew

The problem is that I am a very cold mortal and unless I can initially flood the cabin in air at about 90C it takes me all day to get warm, none of my CX's had that effect but the XM's come a lot nearer. I did hear of an air scoop that you could fit on the bonnet to increase the flow but never came across one although I did see one on a CX in a French film once!

I think by far that best heater is the type fitted to the SX, it has dual zone heating so that I can blast full temperature air on me without causing my wife to loose conciousness. Another great feature is continuiously variable temperature control, the VSX wont allow you any temperature between 26C and max, so you keep having to adjust it - well I do anyway, and finally it has purely mechanical controls - nothing to go wrong. I would like to fit them in my VSX's.

I know what you mean about being permanently cold to the core - my internal thermostat must've been broken
when I used to 'do' the hard as nails northern lad bit in shirtsleeves in blizzard conditions when I was younger!
Now my circulation seems so bad I still felt cold in CapeTown SA when it was in the high 40's. An effective heater
with 'cremation setting' is a must with any car I drive. The s2 CX I just recently had on the road worked fine, helped
I'm sure by the new heater matrix I fitted into it.

I must admit I god my wires crossed (yet again!) in my last post and I should've said:
abysmal HANDBRAKE and silly heater - the two buttons are 3 sliders on the centre console are pants even
if they look smart. No bloody use whatsoever.

I have no problem with the CX heather, its the output of the interior fan that is awful! Getting fresh air in even with the windows open is tricky, need to drive with one arm out the window to direct airflow in. However the benefit of driving with the window open, even just a small bit, masks the annoying wind noise when the windows are fully shut.

Are those bonnet scoop things any good? I have seen them before, but thought they were for use in snowy climes to keep snow out.
