Thanks Dieselman, probably not as I'm not equipped to do all that's needed.

Hi All,

Sorry to report that I am going to have let EDD go, he's taxed till the end of the month and his MOT expires on the 27th Jan so he's legal until then.

I've just done a 90 mile round trip in him so I would say he's reliable and capable of getting anywhere in the UK but there is a fair amount of work required to get him through his next MOT (mainly underbody corrosion, track rod end gaitors/joints replacing and bottom speedo cable replacing).

Bodywork is tidy and he had complete set of new spheres and a new exhaust a few years ago so he's good in the respect, sunroof doesn't open suspect motor has gone and passenger electric window is tempremental.

Rather than scrap him if anyone is interested in taking him on as a project then you are welcome to come and get him, I'm in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.

PM me if interested otherwise he will have to go to the breakers soon, possibly as a trade in.

Regards
Peter

Sad to say after 17 years of great service EDD has finally gone to the dismantlers and is now officially no longer on the road.

Outside of our Landrovers he was undoubtedly the favourite and best value of all the cars we have ever owned so it was sad to have to give him up.

If anyone is looking for parts then contact J R Car Spares 01892 833012 or info@jrcarspares.co.uk www.jrcarspares.co.uk we found them very helpful and trustworthy.

Cheers
Peter

It's what happens here in southern Spain - Xantias (for example) get immediately crushed, as most of the breakers see no market for the parts.
It's why it's so imporatant that potential scrap candidates get advertised on the forums first.

How do you know? The pick up driver seemed so impressed that he said they may store him in a shed but again he was just the driver, once I get the certificate of destruction off the DVLA then I will know for sure.

As you can see Chris I did put him up on the forum for adoption first but sadly no one came forward.

You did the right thing, so much appreciated.
Was just making the point about scrappage in general. ;)

I talked to them on the phone yesterday afternoon. I is what they told me.
