Had a look through the Cit circuits here.

503-00/1 Diagnostic socket RP6383-6749
503-00/1a Diagnostic socket RP6749-6947
503-00/1b Diagnostic socket RP6947 onwards
503-00/1c Diagnostic socket RP7483 onwards

Annoyingly, I don't have the one you need (1b), in either Pepon1 or Ebaman.
John or Will may be able to help with that one.

The others here:
503-00-1 diagnostic socket.pdf
503-00-1a diagnostic socket.pdf
503-00-1c diagnostic socket.pdf

I don't have any Series 2 diagrams, but afaik, the pin-outs of the 30 pin diagnostic socket don't change, they just have more pins used as there are additions to newer models.

Please see attached 30 Pin socket information.

If you intend keeping the car, then get one of the Chinese Lexia 3 diagnostics kits (Ebay). Works on a lap top but uses win XP. You also need a special OBD cable for the XM, it has a large square brown plug on car end and OBD on the other. Looking at £100 or thereabouts but I received all the software to do most Citroens until 2014. It also came with Planet Peugeot for those cars. I've a Boxer I use that on. Think about it as an investment. I also got the Service Box on CD at the same time just handy for parts etc. I use the diagnostics on an ancient Dell that just happens to be XP and just kept for diagnostics. If you use a modern laptop it will need to operate withing an Win XP emulator. Word of warning some emulators can be unstable platforms so you wouldn't want to be coding anything important and find it crashed!! That won't be a problem with the XM as pretty basic OBD. A garage will normally charge £25 just to do a reset or fault diagnosis, so you only have to use it four times and you are quids in. You can always do a few foreigners to help spread the cost.

Hi everyone I think I have found out why my 30 pin lead will not work, It appears that I have no A2 in plug which I think is switched live I assume I would need that to connect to lexia/diagbox.
If anyone has a 30 pin lead that is know to have worked, they do not use/want to sell please let me know and I would gladly buy it off of them
Thanks
Tim

The pinouts.ru diagram above shows A1 & A2 both just as +12. Possible that two are joined in your 30-pin plug? Check with a meter.
