series 1.5 RHD blower fan wanted

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

series 1.5 RHD blower fan wanted

Post by maxferreira » Sat Jul 09, 2022 12:48 pm

Hi all

my fan is siezed, has worn brushes and is rather rotten, so i've decided the best course of action is a replacement

it's for a right hand drive car with automatic temperature control but no air conditioning, it has rotary controls

i'm happy to collect if it's in the north east

thanks

These are available new made by Nissens part no. 87042.
I bought some last year at around £50 each.
Thought that was reasonable for a part that would last out the cars.
Be aware that many UK PSA cars use an identical looking fan which rotates in the opposite direction.
Many of these are UK stock items but no good for an XM, you cannot even use the parts and modify running direction.
I even tried using the bits to rebuild an old XM one but just wasted the £35 it cost.
Fan blades are angled to suit running direction and brushes are offset with tapered ends.
Running the motor in the wrong direction quickly took nearly 10mm off the 22mm long carbon brushes.
Stock was from Denmark ( same situation with Nissen radiators for 2.5TD's).
UK supplier used batch import so there was a bit of a supply delay.
Ebay search (Nissens 87042) gives: arksglobal £55.27 & mjd128 £55.32, both list this item as fitting a LHD Citroen XSARA.
That is the correct part for a RHD Citroen XM.
