Wanted front windscreen

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Are you the same person asking on the XM chat group?

If not Autoglass apparently have some in stock, not sure about the price though.

I had one fitted by National Windscreens in 2021 and it was about £230.

National Windscreens weren't much better - they broke the first screen at the depot and then it took several goes for them to make the appointment.

I got the impression the fitters didn't really want the job.

Good luck getting it sorted!

Hard to see why they wouldn't want the job, it's no different to any other bonded screen, easier than some.

There just doesn't seem to be any interest in actually doing ones job, either at all, in a reasonble time frame, or right first time.
There is no longer any accountablility for poor work ethic.
The admin department need to chase the supply of the glass, book an appointment, shedule a fitter...it's not hard.

Forget using email as a contact method, phone someone high up at head office and make your complaint. Ask for a time frame and for you to receive feedback from that person...remember to ask for their name.

You are the paying customer.

If they say the screen is not available, that's not correct, they are made in batches, on demand as stock levels reach a minimum. The screen has a Euro code number, which they say works across all aftermarket screen manufacturers and suppliers: for XM it is 2718AGN

It's a piece of laminated glass, cut to size and bent to shape.
Video of how laminated windscreens are manufactured.

Per the above comments, it seems Autoglass actually do have some stock, so this is purely an admin issue. The local fitters can't do the job until the glass is sent to them and the appointment booked in by admin.

That was good information, I have phoned autoglass up, and reordered, you know it cost over £600 for replacement front windscreen and yet it cost £75 to get it fitted

The high cost of supply only is to discourage you from going down that route. The link I gave has them at 143 euro.

As a result of your thread i've done some more research.
The Coding system for automotive glass is the ARGIC Eurocode. Automotive Replacement Glass Identification Centre.

The first two digits are the manufacturer code...27 for Citroen
The next two digits are the model variant...18 for Xm
A, or B, is front or rear screen.
Letters after the digits are for colour tint/sun band tint.
Letters starting with M are the mounting kit used.

It appears the model codes are simply chronological, based on the date the model is released to market, so even if not listed an educated guess can reveal the correct screen.
For example, I can't readily find a reference for a Citroen Zx, but as it was released shortly after the Xm, I guessed correctly at 2719.
The earliest reference I can find for a Citroen is 2704, which is for a Citroen Ami-6.

Pilkington Classic list of ARGIC Eurocodes. They don't list the XM, but the site I linked to previously states the manufacturer is Pilkington...perhaps not part of their classic range yet, but a Xantia is.

Windscreens, ultimately, should always be available. For example, You can still buy Bx screens off the shelf in either the Green, or Bronze, original tints.

I looked up some oddities for reference.
Honda Acty TN600 with Blue tint: 3910ABL.

Honda blue tint is hardly tinted at all, it looks like slightly grey clear glass.
I've always liked Mercedes blue tint, though the last model it was fitted to was the W210, iirc.
It was used for sporty/Avantgarde models only, in the Mercedes range, all others had green tint.

If you add your car details to your signature it can help others who have missed what car spec and engine you have.

I have a 2.1td it had a rapid oil leak comming off the back, however it turned out the rocker cover gasket was out of place on the gearbox end of the cover.. I got it back in place and all was sorted.
