Hello again. Right first problem solved with the steering rebuild kit but does anyone have a NOS left hand front shock absorber for a 1995 XM part number 96017493 . Or now of anyone who can rebuild these. As I've got the engine out to do the rack and some engine oil leaks I might aswell do the front weeping shock.
Thanks in advance
Jake

For a 1996 V6, I believe you need p/n 5271 77, depending on the Rp number of your car. After Rp 7322 the P/n changed to 5271 C4.

Yours was first registered 11/05/1995, so definitely built before Rp 7332.

The earlier ones should be 23mm strut with 16mm thread, later ones the thicker 25mm ones with 18mm strut top nut.
The two types are not interchangeable without also changing the strut top to match, otherwise they are interchangeable as the piston is the same size in both types.

The type is going to dictate who might have one available as no series 1 was fitted with thicker struts, they were first introduced on the 2.5, then across the Series 2 range.

It's unusual for them to leak. Technically, they are not serviceable, but in reality, anything is possible.

Have a read of Russ's document in the linked below thread.

If you note your Rp either on your member page, or better still, as your signature, it will assist with locating the correct information for you.

I have a selection of used struts in the UK.. some on hubs some on their own

My question though is your time scale, im currently just fighting a small health issue, but look to be good enough to see one put, of your in the UK.. and if you can confirm if its the smaller or larger one you want..

Sorry for late reply been tied up with other commitments. And I will confirm later this week if its the smaller or larger type and times scales not an issue. It needs doing but isn't dangerous or leaking horrendously at this moment.
