1997 XM 2.0 Auto VSX Turbo (almost Exclusive!) - £600

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

now ive said that i have a niggling feeling the teves ecu is buried under the abs valve block :? here is a relevant post anyway http://www.club-xm.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... plug#p8363

And here is what you need,
If you find you have a Teves ABS system then the ecu is below the battery tray bolted to the side of the ABS block. I've never worked on one so I cant tell you which order the pins are in on the plug. However, here are the pins and to which wheel they refer:
Pins 15 and 30 Left Hand Front
Pins 1 and 6 Right Hand Front
Pins 28 and 19 Left Hand Rear
Pins 29 and 31 Right Hand Rear"

Hi Scooters

I am afraid that Teves was the ABS fitted on XM's from 1996 onwards.
I much prefer it to the earlier Bendix ABS but that is only because in my experience it has a much lower failure rate.
It is not so easy to work on but that only matters when you have to do something to it.
I note your limited time available so that a DIY repair with its steep learning curve is not practical.
It might well though be worth you getting someone with a Lexia to read and note the recorded ABS fault codes.
If the reading is successful then the faulty item(s) is likely to be identified. At the end of a reading stored faults are cleared.
This alone might bring the ABS back working for a while.
If the Lexia fails to read then the ABS may well just have lost one of its power feeds.
Fault in this case is often just a blown fuse.

John

Scooters,

i bid on this when it came up on ebay in november but didn't make reserve. I asked the seller a few questions back then but don't remember him mentioning the ABS light. has it gone on the blink recently recently?

What's the ride like?

THIS CAR iS NO LONGER FOR SALE. I HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP IT.

Yup you talked me out of it. Although there are a number of niggles i have decided to keep it.

Reg....the abs fault manifested itself in my ownership i suspect the car stood for 6 weeks or so before the owner sold in that very damp autumn we had this probably didnt help.

I will have a look at the abs this weekend i suspect a fuse.

Re ABS this might get it through the MOT: last year I took mine to a hand car wash place, and put it on the high setting while they washed the wheels. They must have dislodged some muck because the ABS light didn't bother me for another six months. It's on and off again now, though.

I'll give that a shot - thanks for the tip BTW - could be the solution. MOT is in February so will be probably putting into a specialist to put it through mid beb -

either Chevronis in Leith or Citronics in Harpenden
