how much would this be worth?

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Just about to post about it here too! The autobox repair done professionally will be £1.5k and
that'd probably exclude the labour of removal and refitting. DIY, with a SH box (speak nicely to
Paul Citroenxm) and it could be very cheap. The likely end result for this car is as an engine
donor to a shitbox Crappo (I mean Saxo) or Pug106/306 etc - the usual suspects.

Broyty normally posts on here too but no mention of the autobox failure IIRC.

Nice looking car from the piccy to. Just proves my point about autoboxes though - a failed clutch
on a manual will get sorted - a failed autobox scraps the car. :(

Forgot to mention value. As an engine with a car attached it's worth £300 to the Puggerisers. :(
It is in Essex after all.

They'll rape the engine out and sell the alloys seats and leather for £300 back through ebay
and throw all the odd shaped but perfect Xm bits away to weigh in the bodyshell for another
£80 to cover the costs of collecting the car.

Boooooo

I'm actually surprised he hasn't got it sorted - he's a "Cit Friendly Indy" according to his profile.
Perhaps it's a case of a decorator by trade never lives in a highly decorated house as he doesn't
fancy taking his work home?

Paul will have to spare autobox, whether he fancies selling it or fitting it is another thing mind
and the car is in Essex, Paul's on Anglesey and you're in Darlington? Logistical headache for sure!

true but ive got a very good guy who can collect and deliver to paul at around 80p a mile loaded up, i think if its easy and cheap to repair then it would be worth it, though id have to get rid of the awful alcantatra seats!!!

Its a pity that these things fail. But it would be a nice car to get up and running again.

That would be one for CitroJim on FCF as well...

I wouldnt be so quick to tear the autobox out of the car here, if the oil doesnt have a burnt whiff to it the repair can more than likely becarried out with the box in place, not sure what he means about the kickdown cable but whatever it is the kickdown mechanism can not cause this type of fault, really need to have a look to be sure but if the oil is burnt that means a clutch has been slipping either due to wear, which i doubt very much or most likely due to hydrauluic problems, either way its a box out job to strip down and replace the now dead clutch pack. swapping the valve block may well cure the problem if it is producing good hydraulic pressure, ie the pump isnt dead and the oil level is good and the selector mechanism is in tact and adjusted correctly.
Either way for the money you cant loose, just wish i had the money to get it back to the island here and sort the box out myself, good luck with it though.
