Im sure i read about this failing somewhere along time ago.
Its the rubber connector from the metal inlet manifold to the plastic air intake pipe.
Poor description i know. its p/n 0362 58
well mine has failed, probably due to the oil coming through from the turbo :( and the car does 0-60 in a day, no wonder its slower than the xantia!
Anyway does anyone have one or know where to get one?
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave... Its the small 45 deg, or slight curved pipe to the right (Looking AT the engine) of the cylinder head?? Connecting the Turbo Outlet Boost pipe to the intercooler pipe, that passes over the gearbox??

If so, Yes, there should be one here! Ill have a look sometime tomorrow, got a job in the morning, unsure how long, but will have a look tomorrow afternoon for you!

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul,i think that p/n is only for the BTE engine(epic) and is the coupling from the inlet plenum to the rigid angled pipe that the air temp sensor is mounted in, which is then connected to intercooler outlet pipe. It's only about 100mm long x 60mm dia.

Robertm is correct. Its the short rubber pipe from the inlet manifold to the platic pipe that goes down the front of the engine and joins the rubber pipe that goes into the intercooler.

Both the Roberts are correct, i should have taken a picture, has anyone replaced this pipe succesfully with anything else?
Think ill have to find out how much turbos are as well as there is a lot of oil/gunk in the manifold :( .

is all the gunk not the EGR system doing the usual job of pouring crud intothe intake? or is it pure oil?

A gungy manifold on the 2.1TD is normal if your engine is fitted with exhaust gas recycling and is probably due to a combination of soot from the exhaust gases mixing with oil mist. This gunk formation might be reduced by disabling the exhaust gas recycling feature.

I have little experience with turbos, but i really hope it is just the EGR, as it is not pure oil, just a load of gunky crud, when time alows ill have to clean some of it out!
Im looking forward to putting the foot on the accelertor and something happening when i sort the split rubber hose out!

To get you sorted in the interim, clean the outside of the pipe up with de-greaser, and wrap it with insulating tape, to seal it better.

The ususal mess in the inlet manifold is thanks to the EGR system.

That piece of pipe you need isn't cheap for what it is, but £15 to get the car going well...

Hi Dave, when the intercooler outlet pipe split on mine at the intercooler,i wrapped it with self-amalgamating silicone tape. This self fuses, more so with heat and forms a permanent repair immune to oil, water or any further heat after it has fused up to 260degC.Equally i would imagine any hose of the correct diameter could be easily fashioned to replace your damaged one.
