1996 XM 2 litre turbo CT VSX Automatic Mauritius Blue. Alpinair aircon, Sony radio, 5 Michelin tyres (still with plenty of meat).
First owner/keeper Citroen, Second myself. Bought from Citroen West London at 18 months with 1,000 miles on the clock.
Approx 62K miles. Full service history. Tax and MOT till next February.
Clean except for mud. Open to offers. I do not expect silly offers from people who appreciate real (hydraulic) Citroens.
Date Monday 14th June 2010.
Since my original posting 2 faults have arisen
1 The 2 rear silencer boxes need replacing, cost in total £250.
2 The flexible section of the pipe (metal then flexible) is leaking, no longer available from Citroen UK. Ian the new owner has arranged for a specialised hydraulic pipe repairer to repair this pipe on a Xantia at a cost of £200. I have allowed £50 for labour.
Hence total repair costs of £500
The car was hardly being used with standing costs of approx £400 per year I had considered declaring SORN but if not exercised would simply rust. This happened to cars mothballed from 1939 to 1945.
In short head won over heart.
Now sold to the independent garage that has maintained it for the last 10 years.
The new owner is a keen Citroen man who has always liked this car and knows that it has been obsessively well maintained.
I am certain that the £500 worth of repairs will be done properly and the car will be back in service.
Ultimately to become a VED free modern classic.
