Could be a nice price. Does the Lexia render all this redundant?

interesting..................lexia or similar are a waste of time for cars of this age tbh, you cant pull live data from them only fault codes and each ecu has to be interogated seperatly via its own (usualy 2 pin) plug, all ecu's of this age will do is send blink codes which have to be looked up on a seperate sheet or book, you cant even remotely fire valves and actuaters on the older stuff.
I would bid as ive got a rover here now and it says it does Pug motronic so i would assume it could handle the MK1 xm 20i bosch stuff but the plugs pictured do not look like they even remotely fit the xm 2 pin diag sockets

.
Nice find though Andrew

Guess not that many would show an interest and bid as most folk these days
aren't very hands on. I thought someone here may though; funny, when I first
saw this I nearly titled this "any use for you Dean" knowing you'd likely be
interested but thought the early Motronic would be old news for you now with
the turbo conversion.

yes, its very sad but im mostly looking forward to the conversion because i get an ecu and loom that will support a half usefull version of obd, if the price stays low i will have it though as im caretaker for a few monopoint saxos too so it would be a handy little tool.

Woudl that system be compatible with my G plate 2.0 Si?
And what should I expect to be able to do with it?
By the sounds of it Dean has more use for it than me. As long as it goes to some use, and not dumped.

Isn't the early 2.0 Motronic the one with the big ally airflow meter housing above the gearbox?
The later set up I'm more familiar with has the supplementary airflow valve that sticks with the
needle etc though I guess this early one would be the one you have Robert.

This is mine here
I think its the Motronic. It has a distributor cap, and rotor arm, and the smaller ignition amplifier module on the back of the distributor.

Hi Robert
yours is the slightly less powerfull (122bhp) Magnetti marrelli system, the motronic is the later bosch system fitted to S1.5's.
All i can see it does is read the fault codes as the ecu's are not capable of doing anything else. This age vehicle is a bit of a pig to work on really, all the toys like oxygen sensor and multipoint injection with inlet air temp sensor and crank and throttle position sensor but without the ability to give real time info of ignition adv and retard, temp idle speed, fuel pressure etc etc, all you get is a two digit code for faults which can be a bit vague (like 63 = 'Lambda control') real time info like what obd2 can give is a must for those stubburn hard to diagnose problems.
If the price is still low at the end of the auction i will have it and see what it does but im expecting it to be useless for anything other than teves abs diagnostics where it will just make diagnosis possible without breaking out the ohmeter.......not something i will pay big money to do as im not sure the teves this machine is compatible with is the same that is fitted to MK2 xm's, if it turns out to be usefull im sure it could be passed around a few trusted people if its needed.
i just hope the discription is right and its for motronic and not monotronic

Interesting, Mr Russek leads me to believe that I have a LE2 Jetronic system. And that Bosch Motronic was fitted from 1993, so the series 1.5s. Magnetti Marelli Multipoint was fitted from 1991.
Anyway, their diagnostic machine is probably of little use to me.
