Heated Windscreen Washer Jets

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Heated Windscreen Washer Jets

Post by Assich » Tue Jul 20, 2010 12:20 pm

One of my heated windscreen washer jets has gone loose so moves the direction it squirts in from time to time. I have my car booked in for a replacement windscreen next week and thoguht it was an ideal time to replace the washer jet. Popped into Citroen and they say they no longer have it as available. No doubt still availabkle in France but not here. Does anyone know where I might get one in Britain and if not is there somewhere I can order on line in France (my French is non existent). Citroen do still stock the non heated one but would much prefer a heated one.

Hi Assich

The jet bolts through a hole in the plastic grill under the scuttle cover.
This plastic grill is fixed with 5 or 6 plastic studs underneath and rests on 2 pimpled plastic pads.
The studs and grill have to come out for the windscreen.
The studs are very similar to the door trim ones except they have an extra heart shaped projection on the top to lock into holes in the grill.
I bought a pack of 10 a while ago. A few of them usually get broken when a windscreen is changed.
If the studs or pimple pads are missing the plastic trim can move about altering the washer jet each time.
If it is the washer jet alignment ball that moves on your jet I would be very surprised.
If it is the plastic trim that is moving then fix it down with silicone after the windscreen is done.
If you get the windscreen man to fix it down with windsceen adhesive try to get him to use small dabs at critical points.
(Cutting windscreen adhesive fixed parts out again usually breaks them).
If you do really need a new heated washer jet then I can find a secondhand one to post to you.

Regards

John

A secondhand replacement will be great John. PM on it's way thanks.

I did find a few German sites that sell this part for around 20 Euros (not cheap) with options to post within central Europe but no option to send to Britain. Google translation did enough for me to be able to order if they had sent here. Shame as it would be interesting to find out if the heater elements deteriorate over time or if the heating has always been poor.

Thanks John, it arrived in the post today. Very generous of you and I hope I can return the generousity in the future and if not then pass it on to another member of the forum by helping them out. Looking forward to having working washers again (never mind needing them for the mot) and a new windscreen as the old one is covered in very fine scratches from all that has bounced off it through the years.
