P!ssing out water from the back of the engine...

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

P!ssing out water from the back of the engine...

ebay estate 2.1TD auto s2 in green.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1994-CITROEN-XM-V ... 0565982341

It total honest truth I really don't ever want to get close and personal () with
any diesel engine let alone a 2.1 Xm motor but could this be something more benign
such as these daft external water feeds that Citroen loves so much or the collector
mini manifold where hoses all converge. Seems like the guy needs to be on this
wonderful forum; oops sorry if you are but I don't recall reading about this.

lot of spares there for someone if it doesn't fetch more than the current bid of £50!

will have to be trailered/towed away

All electrics work unusually all the pixels on dash displays work as well.

Reason for Sale have not got the time/space/enthusiasm to repair

if not taken away WILL BE SCRAPPED

any questions contact via e-bay

NO RESERVE
It's got to be worth at least £100 as its got a fully working L/H hand matrix display, both headlamp jet washer covers and decent looking chrome trim (Unless the photo are hiding anything) also you could get a least £150 for the weight in scrap @ the metal merchants at the current rate of approx £100/tonne !

But in reality it could worth the effort in saving it, if some had the enthusiasm for it (Unlike the current owner) !

And it has not got Peter's preferred 'YBL' signature as the last three characters in the reg. plate ;)

It DOES check out as 08/07/1997 registration according to DVLA online and the free app on my iPhone - MyCarCheck;
this has proved to be excellent and reliable and best of all, it's FREE!!

Andrew your quite correct as I've just checked the same via the DVLA vehicle enquiry WEBSITE which is also free !
DVLA wrote: The enquiry is complete
The vehicle details for M684 CBP are:

Date of Liability 01 12 2010
Date of First Registration 08 07 1997
Year of Manufacture 1994
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2088CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Heavy Oil
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREEN
Vehicle Type Approval
Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £112.75
12 Months Rate £205.00
Albeit this XM is a RHD. it could have been registered elsewhere than the UK prior 08/07/97, such as in Southern Ireland, The Channel Isles or the I.O.M. or indeed elsewhere and as such the DVLA gave the vehicle the current registration number thus not to make the vehicle to look younger (Which is not permitted by the DVLA rules) hence this is why its displaying the 'M' prefix registration plate !

I did check the online DVLA vehicle check as I mentioned XMX! :D

I wonder what the RP number is as this would pin down the birthdate
of it! As resident expert and chairman of the 2.1 appreciation society
Peter, what would the water be leaking from? Would the engine even
still run if water was escaping as badly as he says?

Surely its a hose that has sprung a leak in that area? By the thermostat for example? Turbo cooling?

:D Dont know Andrew, I have never had that problem with a 2.1, a 1.9 yes, my gaskets have always failed internally. Could be something else, if we knew exactly where the water was coming from it would help, it needs someone to go and look at it.

If it only does it when it gets warm, presumably when the pressure rises, it might well drive with the filler cap off.
