Breaking - XM 2.5TD VSX Estate

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Breaking - XM 2.5TD VSX Estate

Post by Duke » Fri Aug 13, 2010 4:22 pm

I didn't think I'd be posting in this section!

To cut a long story short, I've bought myself an XM 2.5TD VSX Estate in Blue, on a N reg.(and yes Robert I can hear you laughing!) :)
A friend had the XM and because he knows I like the 'older' Citroens, he needed the space it was taking up, and it was going for (IMO) a good price...I've now got it! :o

So, to the car...It's the 2.5TD lump, with the manual box and it's on the N reg. The sills have got huge amounts of rust  and it's generally untidy,
and for that reason I'll have to break it...unless someone gives me a good offer for it complete! ;)

My friend assures me it's got a good engine, but due to the fact the the battery booster pack didn't have enough life in it it didn't fire up when I got back.
It drove up onto his 4 car transporter though...!

So...if you need any parts for your XM, I'll see what I can do. I can post the stuff to you but I am also going to the CXM Rally in September so can take some stuff there (bearing in mind I'll be going in a CX so nothing huge! :) )

I'll be going back down to the XM soon to take some pictures so you can see what it hasn't / has got in the way of parts.

Cheers.!

Edit: I've just realised I've bought my first XM on Friday the 13th..! :? :? :|

Nope, I have broken 3 Xms already this year. I'm kinda parted out.

How much rust is huge amounts of rust on the sills? Is it MOT-able? How many miles has it done etc etc.

I'm probably going to where it is tomorrow, so I'll get pictures...but there's more rust than solid metal in the sills!
It's probably MOT-able if you were prepared to put some serious effort into it.
Not sure about miles...I only really saw it for about 10 minutes and then I had to go.

As promised, here are some pictures of the XM.
Unfortunately it was raining :x so they're not the best but you get the idea.
IIRC, the mileage was 205K, but the service book is brimming with details and notes...stupid me forgot to bring it home!

Franklin,

IF you decide to break this car, Id be extreamilly interested in the strut tops as my 2.1 SED TD ones are completely shot, and Im still not surprised they have met the bonnet!

IF they are in good condition, I will also need the struts too to fit the car...

The condition under the tops in the wheel arch is the most important area...

Hi Paul,
It does look like I will be breaking it for spares - it is far too rotten! :x

I will be going to the XM on monday to have a look at some other parts, so I'll take my camera and report back for you.

Cheers.

Hi Franklin. Probably a stupid question but does the Left hand segment display work?
Thanks
