EPIC Injector on Ebay

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

EPIC Injector on Ebay

Post by xmexclusive » Mon Oct 04, 2010 9:23 am

There is a current Ebay advert for a NEW fly by wire XUD11BTE injector.
£50 BIN plus £6 p&p.
Check the part number 1980.29 as not sure that all EPIC wired injectors are the same.
Not much more than the cost of getting one serviced so good value as these often develop sensor wire lead faults.
Ebay Item 130438976692.

Yep it was me.

Thanks for the tip John.

Whilst on the subject of needle lift sensor type injectors I have read in the Citroen maintenance info that dismantling of this EPIC injector (eg for cleaning, nozzle replacement or calibration) is a FORBIDDEN operation. Does anyone know why? Is dismantling of the 2.5TD needle lift sensor injector also forbidden?

Hi Ken

Glad it went to a good home.
Hope it turns out to be the bargin it seemed.
Same Citroen hands off notice about the 2.5 sensor injector.
As I recall Noz on the other forum suggested that it was rather a cautious approach.
I consider that the wire injector is the most critical one to get cleaned, reset and tested.
Almost tempted to do it twice as often as the others.

Hi all,it's not just Citroen that infers "DO NOT TOUCH".In my research earlier this year, neither "Diesel Bob","Turner Diesel" nor "Engine precision" would entertain o/haul of an instrumented injector and hence my search for a new unit and it's subsequent replacement.

Hi Robert

Your experiences with diesel specialists are Interesting.
Still not sure about the reasoning for the caution though.
With the 2.5 there is the added complication of the XM specified as the sensor injector using a different nozzle type than the other injectors. Checks on cars with factory fit injectors has shown that Citroen actually had a more random approach to nozzle fitting.
Throw in that PUG on their 2.5TD 605 used the same two types of nozzle but specified cars to have all 4 injectors using the same types.
German cars to use XM sensor type nozzles. Rest of the world to use XM plain injector type nozzle. All these 2.5's are quoted as having the same performance and economy.

Hi John,i confess my puzzlement that none would even attempt a nozzle replacement.I can only surmise their reluctance was due to possible destruction of the coil or lead connections. However the eventual cost of a new unit was not excessive, though difficult to find.Citroen still show them as available at £174,p/n 1980 56 for DEPOLL 95 ecu's.The 1980 29 for DEPOLL 2000 ecu's is no longer available, but i believe DEPOLL 2000 ECU's were only fitted to L4 emission standard (manual) vehicles of which very few if any made it to rhd.The give away is the MAF.

Hi Robert

Not put any in for overhaul yet but both the diesel specialists I approached down here were happy to overhaul and test them.
In the end my little stock of sensor ones came new from AEP about a year ago when they had an end of line clearance and put them on ebay.

Hi Robert

My people are local here in Hampshire but Noz recommended a man somewhere west of Falkirk.
He has overhauled 2.5 injectors including the sensor ones.
He was also the other place that I was considering posting mine too.
If he is geographically better place for you then let me know and I will find the details.

Regards

John
