I would imagine yours is post August '94 a Mk2 as the displays on Mk1's are usually indestructable. Good Mk2's are like hens teeth I'm afraid but there is a thread on the other XM forum as to how to refurbish them, if you fancy a challenge - it might even be on here.

There are two displays on a Mk2. One tells you what suspension setting you have/door open/fault (e.g. ABS)/radio station/volume etc.... on the left, and on the right, temperature, range/mpg etc.
Which one has failed?

Being a Mk2, it'll be the left one, it always is !
Just like the
brand new spare one you've got, still in it's original box

Well 'tis true sir, I do have a new one in it's box. Legend has it, that it costeth £472 from Citroën.
Methinks I may be persuaded to accept less!

Have you tested it to see if it works?
I'm just curious to see if these fail in storage as well.

No reason to TBH. Not sure how I'd test it other that start messing about with my XM? (Let sleeping dogs lie!)

We all know theres two displays, Series Ones have two displays, but the Right hand display for Clock and Temp, is a Peugeot/Citroen Item, which also gets fitted to Peugeots.. The :eft hand seems to be an XM only display.
Its possibly about time a "Change Over" harness eas made to make it possible to fit S1 Displays to S2 cars.

I should rescue some of the wiring from the old estate.
I'd rather have a go at repairing the dot matrix before trying to make a S1 unit work in a S2. But its possible. This was discussed somewhere else on here not that long ago.
