SED auto for sale

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

SED auto for sale

Regretfully, I'm going to have to move on my XM. I desperately have to reduce outgoings, and having been seconded elsewhere at work, I am now going to be doing ridiculous miles. Thankfully my old 205 diesel was offered back to me at just the right time, but the XM does need an enthusiastic new owner.

The following pics were taken by mouseflakes when I bought it, but are still representative. I'll give her a wash at the weekend and take some current ones however.

She's done 170 000 miles, however both gearbox and head gasket are currently intact :-) Since I got it, I have fitted four quality Vredestein tyres, replaced the doseur end seal, replaced accumulator and centre suspension spheres, repaired a sill, and recently fitted a new alternator. She drives well, but could do with the timing belt replacing for piece of mind (a new belt and waterpump are included, just haven't got round to fitting them) and the wishbone bushes are noisy and really want doing soon. That aside, the car is really rather sound, and doesn't need for much, perhaps outer spheres soon but not much else. Maybe a glowplug or two too as the coldstart is somewhat rough when temperatures are subzero, but that said it has only ever failed to start when the alternator packed in...

Tax until the end of April, Mot until December. Still in everyday use (I'm in Liverpool) but I intend to change over to the 205 next weekend, which will probably entail leaving the XM in Durham as I don't have any offstreet parking. If I did, I'd be sorely tempted to keep her

Just to say that I checked out the glowplugs and they're fine, problem seems to be caused by a 2 volt voltage drop to the glowplugs, which I think is caused by a faulty glowplug relay. If I get the chance I'll open it and try cleaning the contacts...

There is a handwritten list of the work that has been done and a canny few invoices and old MOTs but there are gaps...

Mine does something similar and I changed the relay for another the same age and it still drops the power on start, so no post glow at all.

Hi all,a quick proviso on the voltage drop.Check the glowplug spec, they could be rated at a different voltage, nominally 10 or 11 volts compensating for voltage drop to maintain the rated wattage, which is normal.Battery condition will also influence level of voltage drop as well as the usual suspects - high resistance connections.

OK,
So some history, anything to suggest neglect mate? Not being awkward but the Battlescar was seriously neglected, so I'm kinda weary.

what are the pros and cons of an S1.5 vs an S2? Both being a 2.1 TD if that makes any difference?
