XM chair!!
Just thought this might amuse diehard XM'ers!! The chair was purchased via ebay and the (very obliging) creator would be pleased to obtain other customers, if anyone was interested. Although the cost was over £100 the workmanship is pretty impressive and if you supplied your own seat that would help. I can truly say (without bias of course) that it is the most comfortable chair I have sat in, apart from the car of course!

Re: XM chair!!
I actually made one of these myself!
I was saving it for the XM coulmn...
But here goes.

I used some angle iron to attach the seat up to the seat base. Luckily the office chair base and the car seat mounting holes were almost the same distance apart, with the angle iron taking up the slack so to speak.

Yours is very neat Matthew, and the leather seat makes it even more impressive. Having no side panels makes it neater still, but leaving it all on mine made it even easier to make. Could you take a picture of the underside of your chair, it would be good to see the base that he has made for this chair.
Needless to say, it really is the most comfortable office chair I have sat in.

Re: XM chair!!
Well done Robert, I knew there must be another one out there!! I am sorry to have 'stolen your thunder' on the CCC article, but perhaps you could feature both trims! I admire the self-build approach (cheaper as well) and the side panels do give a more authentic feel to the chair. I forgot to mention that there is a tilt feature with a small discreet lever fitted against the pivot point. Here is a photo of the underside as requested with some quite nifty welding. With regards, Matthew T.

The tilt lever is a handy addition. How did he do that? I had to connect the battery charger to the remaining motor to set the back rest. It would be nice to adjust it.

Re: XM chair!!
I think the base you pick is the key, the office chairs at work have a tilt function and the whole chair leans back on its base as well as going up and down.
oh and glue a centre console to the side of the chair with ashtray, cigar lighter, cup holder etc

I need 2, one for each arm!!What happen to Electric-Arm Rest
It will soon be easier to mount a put a desk into a Xm at this rate of going

Mine does that, but I thought Matthew's back rest reclined as if it was in the car.the office chairs at work have a tilt function and the whole chair leans back on its base as well as going up and down.
