Peugeot 306 for sale - 1.6 manual petrol hatch

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Peugeot 306 for sale - 1.6 manual petrol hatch

Due to having been given a much younger car, we are going to have to sell my wifes Peugeot 306.

It is a 1.6 Manual Petrol Hatch. 95 M reg. Can't remember the exact trim - XR or something similar - I can check that at home if it matters to anyone. It has electric front windows and sunroof, 5 doors, no aircon, working original radio-casset with volume stalk by the steering wheel. It is White.

The Good:
  • ~53,000 miles on the clock.
  • Full service history. In the time I have had it it has been maintained by my Citroen/Peugeot indy.
  • Fairly good paintwork for the most part (see below).
  • Tax to end Dec.
  • MOT to the beginning of Jan.
The bad:
  • The roof has some rust starting to bubble through. It had a lot of rust a number of years ago which we had cut back, made good and repainted. However, they could not fix the cause which is a split over the rear driver side door and lets damp into the roof area causing more to occur over time. It will need some attention to the roof in the future, but should be fine for a year or two. The interior does not get wet, but perhaps a little more humid than a better sealed car.
  • It's low miles seem to be due to it sitting unused for period of time, so there is some green stuff in some of the cracks around seals etc that is not noticeable looking at the generally good paintwork (for the age) from a distance.
  • The mileage fits perfectly with the service history, but I have always been a little suspicious. We have had to have a new clutch and head gasket in the time we have had it and the box looked like it had been removed before we did the clutch which is odd for such a low mileage car. I have no idea what it's previous life involved, and I couldn't fault the mileage on the service history when I got it.
  • The syncromesh on second is a bit lazy so it is easy to crunch the gears changing from first to second. Other gears seem OK.
  • In very damp weather it sometimes runs a little rough. It is quite rare, and seems to be related to how damp the engine bay is and how long it has been damp. It may be as simple as needing new HT leads, or it may be an electrical connector or ...
  • The last MOT had an advisory for a grazed break hose and the front pads getting low
I have been running it to and and from work for a few weeks while my XM has been off the road and it has handled the 30 miles down the motorway with no problem.

In the 7ish years we have had it my wife has used it regularly, but only for very short runs about town - a couple of miles at most. The usual shopping/kids trips of a second car.

I can't really speak for it's fuel consumption as the use it has mostly had means it has not been running efficiently.

If anyone is interested then I can put some pictures up once I have cleaned it. Do ask any questions. We are in Redhill, Surrey. I work in Horsham if anyone wants to look at it and that is more convenient.

edit: forgot the MOT advisory
