I am selling my 1996 XM 2.0 16 valve Auto due to the purchase of a C5 with all the bells and whistles. It is taxed to the end of April and MOT’d to September. Mileage is 92k.
This is a very good looking car, in my opinion it suits white, and the side trims have been previously replaced with stainless steel inserts and this enhances the look. Considering the age of the car there are few blemishes but it is not perfect and beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder, please come and look. The velour interior is in fantastic condition with no stains, smells or signs of wear.
There is quite a lot of history with the car and it was given an oil service (including gear oil and filter clean) at the end of February. Both window regulators have been repaired or replaced in my ownership and work well, as does the sun-roof. The engine pulls well and returns good mpg the way I have driven it. Brakes work well, including the parking brake and the suspension is soft and there are no leaks.
Exhaust and tyres are fine.
The car is located at Middleton St George a mile from Durham Tees Valley Airport and close to Darlington for rail links.
Price: £850
Please PM me for e-mail and phone contact details.

2.0 16Vs are very very very nice, and this one is an automatic. Perfect!
Good luck with the sale Rob.

This is still for sale, with some tax and plenty of test.
Restoration projects seem to be getting the interest at the moment, but I feel this is an attractive, useable car at a very realistic price.

Still available, and definitely more comfortable than the C5 V6 I have bought to replace it!

You know what the answer is then, don't you?

Actually, I think I do...
Anyone want a 2002 C5 V6 with 82k and every conceivable bell and whistle? I really wanted the toys and the extra power at the time but I really do prefer the XM in lots of ways. There would be a lot of face to be lost
Still I'll give it another week or so - I've just filled the C5 up - and no, it hasn't doubled the value

I will listen to realistic offers for the XM over the next few days.

Unfortunately, I am withdrawing the XM from sale at the moment because I am concerned about deterioration in one of the strut tops - and I am not prepared to sell a car I am not completely confident in. Consequently, I have reinsured it and will tax it again at the end of the month.
With the repair effected I may decide to keep it as I find it more comfortable than the more recent C5 I bought to replace it!!

The noise that concerned me has been identified and rectified to my satisfaction (thanks to Citroenmad Chris). It was a failing ball joint on a drop link and this has now been replaced.
As a consequence, I am now happy to put the car back up for sale as I have now bought a V6 XM and really do need the space to park it outside my home!
If you are looking for an attractive XM that drives like it should with no mechanical issues that I am aware of, message me, mail me or give me a call. I may be "up north" but I am easy to find with good transport links available.

Will definitely be at Wetherby on Sunday if anyone wants to take a look or ask any questions. It is a lovely car, deserving of a caring home:
