Weird German 24v!!

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Weird German 24v!!

Post by MTXM » Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:27 pm

Here is a slightly strange concoction that I spotted while browsing German ebay, a totally Series 2 1995 registered XM with a Series 1 V6 24v engine, which I thought was discontinued around 1993! The item no. is 180677571259.
I know the V6 12v soldiered on into early Series 1, but not the 24v surely. Is it possible the engine might have been retro fitted? With regards, Matthew T.

Possibly NOT Mathew, the PSA V6 engine was NOT introduced to the XM untill 1997 P reg.

So I guess as the V6 was so much more bigger in Germany, it was still on the order books...

Nice find! Have you bought it??

Hi Matthew

The manual V6-24v continued in production in the early Mk2 years but only LHD ones were made.
It was withdrawn from production when the new V6-24v engine with the 4HP20 autobox was introduced.
There is a note in the workshop manual that in 1996 it is the only model of XM to retain Bendix ABS while all others got Teves.

Thank's everyone and that's something else new I have learnt. Even so, a Series 2 24v with the earlier engine must be a very rare beast!! There are no plans to buy the car at present Paul!!! Regards, Matthew T.

It'll be interesting to see what it makes being over in Hamburg - I'm sure that it'd make good money over here! :D

Description quoted for future reference:
Google Translation of the German Description wrote:Offer from one of the rare collections of my XM V6 24V with 200 Ps The XM is approved on 01/23/1995 and to date has had 3 owners (4 items in the mail because once rewritten in the family). The almost complete EXCLUSIVE equipment was expanded by the following extras: sunroof, tow bar, radio with remote central locking and the Super. The interior is in a neat condition. Known defects with no guarantee of completeness: Super Locks not working, heated front seats, air conditioning and windows, front left, defective battery, Pixel errors in plain text display. Larger scratches are on the bumper, front left and right and to the bumper of the rear right door. Last year, the front brake hoses were replaced and the heat exchanger for heating. The doors and hoods have no rust on the known locations. Jack recordings are folded forward. Hobbyist vehicle. The XM is logged off for about 1 year. All statements I have made the best of our knowledge and belief. Nevertheless, you should inspect the vehicle before bidding. Should also provide your questions before the set. Payment within one week of auction end, pick-up within two weeks after the auction ends. I sell the XM as a hobbyist vehicle / vehicle battle without any guarantee or warranty! No renegotiation and no return!

If you think, Franklin, the 12v PRV V6 makes a nice noise then go and drive a PRV V6 24v HARD without the inlet pipes on the manifold... now that IS THAT NOISE!!!

Paul

PS: Was just looking at your signiture, and this thread was about a PRV V6 24v car. ;) 8-)
